Everyone says its so deep but is there a Kobe, James, Durant, Wade, or any player that can carry a franchise in this draft?

Anthony Davis is really the only one
But there are loads of guys with all star potential that will be very good players in the NBA

Kobe wasn't seen as a franchise player when he was drafted, and Wade kinda wasnt either. so you never know

Kobe wasnt seen as a star player and if he was he most likely would not have been traded by the Hornets.

Franchise players are hard to scout. It has alot to do with attitude and personality and of course skill. I don't see a franchise player in this draft.

I could see Kidd Gilchrist developing into a star player. He is a physical freak, with very good ball skills, he is a good defender and rebounder, and can attack the rim.
His shoot could use improvement. His skill set reminds me a lot of D Wade.

Everyone knew about LBJ forever he's the exception to the rule. You likely won't see that hype again for a while. But the last person to get that much hype that early was probably OJ Mayo.
Kobe was the 13th pick. Wade was the 5th pick. Neither was seen as the franchise guy they have become.
At the end of the day, you just never know until they get here.
Durant is the interesting comparison. Everyone knew he would be good, but he still went 2nd overall. I think Davis is a mix of Durant/Garnett. But no one knows if he'll be as good as those guys or if he'll be a Tyson Chandler or Tyrus Thomas or whatever else. He is the best player in this draft though, but there are other players who have potential too.
IMO/IMHO

Well I guess we'll find out in a few years

It is. Deep draft doesn't necessarily mean superstar loaded draft. The 2003 draft was "loaded" with star talent but after the 6th pick the most notable names were David West at 18 and Josh Howard in the late 20s. Much of the rest was garbage. By contrast there will probably be lots of solid and good players taken throughout the first round.

Brad Beal and Harrison Barnes are going to be the best players from this draft. Their skills translate to the next level very well.

Huh? He was sort of a phenom as a kid.

He was never going to play for the Hornets no matter what.

I wish more people knew this... The Divac-Kobe trade was done before the Hornets even drafted him, a day before the draft in fact.

I'm just glad the Hornets will actually be making draft picks. No selling or trading them away this year.

This
Just me, but I think this draft has one Durant in Davis and the next 20 guys will be David West/Josh Howards. Again IMHO.

I agree with that. I see Davis being a star of Garnett's caliber and Thomas Robinson possibly being a star PF. There may be one or two others who are very good, but not quite superstars.
I think the depth comments are in reference to their being several players who are expected to be solid contributors that may make a few All Star games in their careers.
I think several teams, not in the lottery, will be able to get very good players that can come in and contribute and possibly start.

Davis and Beal are the two definite superstars.
I could see C Zeller becoming a superstar as well.
TRob, MKG, and Barnes I think are going to be very good players as well

There's no bigger crapshoot than the NBA draft... The chances of getting someone decent in the 1st round is about 50/50...it's rough!
