So what are you expecting from Spags?

I was just watching the last game of the season last year against the Panthers. Most of the defense (especially in the first half) was doo doo. Players vacating gaps, overrunning plays, not wrapping up etc. Just general undisciplined, jackasserey.
The thing is I think we did have plenty of talent on defense (except for say the linebackers); at least enough to field a respectable defense.
I remember hearing one of the Giants say that they simplified their defense towards the end of the season and it allowed to "just play" (or something like that; I'm paraphrasing). A team like looked like mediocre hot garbage for a good portion of the season was hoisting the Lombardi. We, on the other hand, had 50 something formations that allowed Alex Fricking Smith to look like vintage Steve Young.
Since Spags is installing a new defense, with only one (so far) player who has played in his system, I think he's gonna keep things pretty simple. We finally seriously address the linebacker position. We can finally ask our d-linemen to get to the QB instead of occupying blockers for Harper/Casillas etc. The one thing that does worry me is I heard Spags plays a lot of Tampa 2, and our corners are mostly man oriented.
So Breesus, thoughts?

This just really seems to sum up Gregg Williams.

I expect much better D-line play. Greg Romeus will be a stud if he's healthy. Will Smith might move inside on some downs. Just overall a better D than last year

I just hope Spags is not a meatball

What i noticed about spags is that ALL his d-linemen can rush the passer, and his corners play man, so he runs a "make your guys beat my guys" kind of D.

I'm expecting him to continue the bounty system that was so successful the last two years.....

...expecting Super Bowl Saints to win it all in New Orleans despite Adolf.

The #1 defense in the NFL history , anything less than spags has failed us.

Still waiting to see what happens with players suspensions. Wish Ginger Dick would stop dragging his arse so we know what to expect.

You know, I was expecting some jokes, but I thought I'd get more serious football talk.

Smarter blitzes.
One of the things that pissed me off about GW this past year...send the house but leave 10yds open for the taking.

I'd take smarter blitzes. That's one of the things that drove me crazy about GW this past year: you send the house yet you leave 10yds open for the taking.

Wow, Pat.
Sounds like we really agree.

I'm not asking for much. Basically, whatever Greggggggg Williams did, do the opposite. Instill proper tackling technique, don't be married to one specific scheme, and b selective with the blitzes.
Oh, and don't completely screw over the organization and the fans. Thanks GW for helping us win the super bowl, but you're a prick and don't ever step foot in NOLA again.

Bumping so that we can talk football.
I was just rewatching the 2nd Bucs game, and holy shite there were some big holes in coverage. I remember hearing comments from people at the game that he was missing wide open receivers. A competent QB would have tore us up.

I expect more fundamentals. Better tackling, not overpursuing, no more trying to strip the ball everytime they get close to the ballcarrier, no more flying cross body blocks.

What I found interesting is that we haven't even heard a whisper about them targeting any d-linemen in FA, besides Bunkley and we got him. Now granted the market isn't really good, but I wonder if Spags looked at the tape, looked at how GW was using his d-line and thought "What a jackass?"

What I'm hoping for. I really hope Spags can duplicate his past success with DL talent with us.
