Which is more immersive experience for you?

Music?
Film?
TV Shows?
Books?
Comic Books?
Graphic Novels?
Video Games?
Art?
Am I missing any others?
I just bought a book today (Hunger Games) and I plan on reading it tonight. I remember some of my friends telling me that they can't start a book at night because they'll stay up all night and finish it. I'm not that way, but I do get that way when I watch movies.
And I get that way with some games that are "sandbox" oriented such as Minecraft.
- What is the most immersive medium to you?
- What are some examples of your degree of immersion?
I know the first time I played Minecraft I didn't get into it, but when I learned the ins and outs, there was a day that I spent playing only that. And the next day at work I saw the world like it was Minecraft, and couldn't wait to get back.
The most immersive movie experience I've ever had was watching the new King Kong in the theater. It was just breathtaking and packed with adventure and everything was so well done. I also find Terry Gilliam, Terrence Malick, and Richard Kelly films to be fairly immersive.
Let's here what you got!

In the last 6 or 7 years movies before that music. I still enjoy both though. I just don't sit and listen to music for hours on end like I used to.

TV I can easily spend 4 hours on a saturday night busting out a season of a TV show

If I were to put them in order:
Books
Video Games
Film
Graphic Novels
Music
The others I don't really care too much for.

easily.
whether its playing god in SimCity or slaying dragons in Skyrim or saving the universe in Mass Effect, i easily get more immersed in the experience of a good video game than any other medium.

When gran turismo first came out on playstation, I can tell you how many people peeled out and hauled arse out my friends driveway.
For me it would be movies or a really in depth emotionally charged tv series. I get into those.

There were times in ME3 where I actually got pissed off and decided that I will frick someone's world up no matter the consequences.

For me its like sports.
Football is a better overall sport IMO but baseball at its best in the playoffs can't be beat.
Same with books. I prefer and love movies and generally get more emotionally connected - watching favorites numerous times...but
Once in awhile a book comes along...that I want to just savor every page...and then think about for the next month once I'm finished. It's rare but it happens.

At gun point I would say books. But I'd have to think hard about a good TV series.

Who the frick would ask you that at gunpoint. Get some new friends nerd

A good book is more immersive than anything, but certain TV shows do that too. When I started watching LOST, I'd knock out 8 episodes in a row, sleep, work, repeat. My wife and I finished the series in about 3 and half weeks. Never got into comic books or graphic novels, and I get tired of video games after a couple hours at a time.
Overall:
Books
TV Shows
Film
Music

So I wanna go someplace where we know someone who can plug us into the social pipeline

Video games. I can sit down to play, and 30 minutes later, 5 hours has gone by.

Yeah I spend a good bit of time watching sports. Movies, TV/Sports/Music and I probably should read more Books but I always end up looking at internet porn instead.

That was a good analogy and this has definitely happened. I think that books are most immersive for me too. I control the movie in my head and when words on a page turn into thoughts, you know it's something spectacular.
IT is one of my favorite books and I was totally absorbed by it.
