From the 80's. I just watched 2 of them on netflix with my son. Still good stuff.

I remember that series. I only watched one though...about the gunner in the belly of a B-17 getting trapped with damaged landing gear. He was an aspiring cartoonist. He winds up crawling into his imagination while in shock and draws cartoon wheels that the plane lands on.
I think Kevin Costner was in it.

Love that show. Favorite episodes are The Family Dog, Remote Control Man, Dorothy & Ben, What If...

that was amazing stories??
I was just talking to a belly gunner of a B27 at the Smithsonian and brought that movie up.
Forgot it was Spielberg's TV show, not a movie.

That's the ONE I remember! The only one!
I think that was the whole series...they just ran that episode over and over again because I swear I watched it every Sunday night...and cartoon landing gear is all I can recall.

I remember the one with the ghost train and the one where the kid accidentally made this goo that he could spread on magazines and bring the pics to life. Of course he was putting it on centerfolds but the amounts had to be in just the right preportion or shite would come out fricked up. Too much and you get a giant woman that was manhandling him, too little and the chick comes out looking like the crypt keeper.

Haha, I remember these. I also liked the one where the farmer would send chicken down this well and he would get a little pyramid of gold back for it. So he decides to get in this scuba suit looking thing and ride down himself to meet the underground creatures.
When his son pulls the rope back up, he finds the scuba suit full of gold pyramids with a note on the front "send more chicken". The creatures thought he was chicken and ate him!
Loved that show

Some of them could be pretty scary. There was one about an old couple with a retard kid. He had the ability to look at a picture of anything and make it real. If he wanted a hamburger, all he had to do was look at a picture of a hamburger. Kittens and puppies, though, came out dead.
They had to keep the house completely devoid if magazines, pictures, ect, and not take him out much. The old lady died. The retard is sad and digs up a picture of here and brings her back. Dead. The dad knows there's no way anybody who will be able to take care of the retard after he dies, so he shows him a picture of the sun and convinces him of how awesome it is. The retard makes his wish and their house blows up. Game over.

The WWII bomber was the best epidsode. Another one I really liked was where an actor playong a mummy for a movie gets a phone call that his wife went into labor. He jumps in a car and takes off still wearing the mummy suit. Hijinks and chicanery ensue, as he scares the hell out of locals, and gets kidnapped and almost lynched by a bunch of rednecks.
It was a great series.

I think the B-17 story was so popular because it was one directed by Steven Speilberg. But they had a lot of great directors doing them.
There was one with a guy and he could see monsters in a mirror or reflections and one began to strangle him. I remember that one being a little freaky.
Found this one.
I remember one where a kid was suppose to deliver a message from the Battle of the Alamo but jumps to the present day San Antonio. Gives teh message to a gift shop owner who happens to be Sam Houston great great grandkid or something. Then heads back to the Alamo and warps back into the battle.

I think you're right with that...even though he wrote and produced the majority - this one he directed and I think they really promoted the episode before it aired and there was this..."we have to watch...Spielberg is doing TV!" You just assumed it was going to be quality - going to the movies for free back then. This is 1985 - E.T./Raiders/Temple of Doom were still fresh in the mind.

Are we sure we're not confusing "Amazing Stories" with the new "Twilight Zones" from the 80's. One of the two had an episode where this kid had a shadow man coming out from under his bed at night to kill. The kid got cocky because his shadow man wouldnt hurt him but got killed by a shadow man from under someone elses bed.

I remember the Twilight Zone reboot too. I think it was panned, but at 7 years old, I liked it. The was 1 where a lady took an anti-aging drug with a side effect of making you way older if you stopped. Her husband found out, forgave here and took a bunch of it so he could be as old as her.
In another, criminals were shunned instead of jailed. You had some kind of microchip glued to your forehead.
I think these two shows played back to back on Sunday nights like at 7:00 est?

I remember this one. The monster or whatever got closer and closer to the guy everytime he saw his reflection. The monster made it right up to the guy as he finally covered every reflective surface in the house but ended up seeing his reflection in his glasses. I think? The last reflection definitely had something to do with his eyes.

I think that might've been a Twilight Zone from the 80s..
I liked the Amazing Stories of the babysitter/housekeeper lady that looked like Aunt Jemima and she was basically a witch.
