You taking Colston out of our WR group and the group is suddenly very average IMO.

Yea I forgot about him.

I wonder if we could afford Colston if we didn't resign Moore. Moore is making around 4 million a year and Colston is asking for about 7 million a year. If that's the case then I'm disappointed the FO didn't consider this when signing Moore. I love lance and all but I'd rather us pay for a guy who's given us 5 1,000 yd seasons as opposed to a guy that has yet to break 1000 yards in a season. Colston is just way more important to this offense imo

Moore is just doing what is asked of him, which is catch short passes on 3rd down. They both valuable assets to the team and our offence is not as good without either player.

Signing PT, Jahari Evans and Lance Moore to pretty big contracts.

add roman harper and will smith to that group

the front office does a good job in finding talent. they suck at contracts tho.

will smith? sure, pay him like a top 3 defensive end even though he's 30. roman harper? yeah, give him a big deal. charles grant? show him some money...we can't do without those 3 sacks next season. lance moore? let's overpay him too.

drew brees? gtfo...he's okay. don't give him top dollar. carl nicks and marques colston? mediocre....let 'em walk

fwiw i have no issue with them signing the people they have, they just overpay every time. they tend to outbid themselves on aging players

I agree but I think Colston is more important to this offense

You know the media is finished with fact checking as far as the Saints are concerned.

You realize Detillier is a local guy right?

Of course its speculation since nothing has happened yet. But there are cap realities and guys like Colston and Nicks could get more than the Saints can offer on the market. Think Nicks is gonna take a "hometown" discount to make less than Evans? Maybe they could work things out, but considering they could not get a deal down with Drew Brees I don't see why you'd be so optimistic. But hey, the WON THE SUPER BOWL. nothing they do can ever be wrong.

So you don't think they have a win now attitude or that they weren't close?

BTW: Win now is not a negative, its exactally what you should with an over 30 franchise QB.

Let both walk. Lock up Brees. Get help on Defense. Release Vilama and Harper. Sign Stephen Tulloch and LaRon Landry. Sign a rush DE and move W. Smith to DT. Take a chance with Randy Moss. Heck, Drew Brees is the QB. You can plug in a receiver for Colston. Nick will be missed

I agree with this. I hope their smarter than that. I don't believe we will keep nicks or Colton but I would love to be wrong!

Mike Detillier has no clue what he's talking about. If there was any question about it up until now this proves it. The last two weeks in his articles in the Houma paper, he has "informed" us that Colston and Nicks were gone and the Saints had no hope of signing either one. He really needs to be called out for this as the idiot he is.

Rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble rabble

I love how y'all never give anyone credit when they are right but oh man if they mess up you'll jump all over them!

Their job is to predict and sell (whether it's news papers, TV, radio, etc...)

If you listen to him today on the radio I'm sure he'll admit that he was wrong about Colston and is happy about it.

Here's the deal. Detillier is an "expert" because he made himself an "expert". He knows all of the players names. He knows where they went to school and generally what they're good at.

If any of you quit your job and just decided to do that full time, and actually did it, you'd be just as much of an "expert".
