I will be getting married next spring and having the ceremony and reception at the Old State Capitol. Do any of you have any experience with any of the following?

Culinary Productions
Heirloom Cuisine
Leger's Catering
Louisiana Bayou Bistro
Margo Bouanchaud, Inc.
Chef Don Bergeron
The Edible Event

Thanks

It will be a pretty formal evening wedding, if that helps with your suggestions.

ETA: We decided to go with Culinary Productions for our reception. Tentative menu on Pg. 3. Thank you to all for your help. If I can be of any assistance to anyone, please let me know.

I hear great things about Culinary Productions and The Edible Event.

Those two have much more interesting items than your normal booooring "shrimp linguine, jambalaya, shaved ham, etc"

Yeah, we haven't tried anything yet but that seems to be the case. They have the lead so far.

I don't see The Edible Event on the list of caterers in this brochure, I'll have to call the event planner to see if they're welcome there.

I'm sure it all depends on what kind of wedding/crowd/etc. you have. I've seen Don Bergeron talked about a lot on here, but I know nothing about it personally.

I just know a lot of the catering places around here do the same ole same ole. I am so impressed when I end up at a wedding with out of the ordinary LA food.

I've been to a few weddings in the Baton Rouge area that used Heirloom and the food was excellent. They had actual entrees and not just finger foods. The staff is very nice and friendly too for what that counts!

All very good choices. If you need specific info on any of them, let me know. I also like Diane Evans Best Catered Event. Her presentation is second to none.

Really? Including The Edible Event and Culinary Productions as well? What makes her superior to them, in your opinion?

Want to cater my wedding, bro? I spent enough at your old restaurant for you to give me a discount.

White Oak Plantation does off-site catering and their food is usually pretty good.

Agreed. We really miss her up here in Alexandria. She was doing pharmaceutical lunches during the week and really spoiled us all. I can't speak on her weddings, but her food and service was completely unmatched in every setting that I've had the pleasure of using them.

No can do. What's your email, I'll be happy to help you pick a good caterer in the area though. A few of them owe me some favors, and I can get you a fair shake.

I've been pretty underwhelmed with the food at most of the white oak weddings I've gone to.

I've heard good things about that venue for a wedding. I've been to events there but never a wedding. We already have the Old State Capitol booked, though. Thanks for the suggestion.

You should probably just go with the cheapest. Trust me.

Edit: Are you a dude? If you are, you are doing too much. Just let your fiancé decide.

Got married 3 weeks ago. Check out Gourmet Girls on Perkins by the over pass. Owner/caterer is the old owner of the Silver Spoon in Bocage. Food was great.
