rather than retelling the story I am just going to post the email I sent to the director of the golf course it happened on, I aint happy. Am I fricked or should I expect some store credit on a new driver since apparently mine vanished out of thin air

quote:

On Tuesday, February 21st, I was hitting on the driving range before teeing of around 12:30. While hitting my driver the shaft split and the head broke off and flew about 75 yards into the driving range. Due to the amount of people on the range I figured it was not a good idea to attempt to run out an grab it. Two other men (whose contact information I have) on the range watched the man driving the the ball cart slow down before the head, look at it, run over it, and proceed to keep driving. The head disappeared so we figured at the time that it got picked up and I could just pick it up at the clubhouse. However, after going to the clubhouse immediately after it happened, after hole 9, and after 18 the driver claims to have not seen it after 3 of us witnessed him slow down and then proceed to run over it. I called on Wednesday to ask about it thinking maybe it got drug and picked up later and was once again told that no one has seen it. I am not trying to get anyone in trouble but now instead of just having to get a new shaft I am stuck with having to purchase an entire new driver. If I had to guess what happened he ran over the head an then realized it messed up it up and he threw it away in fear of getting reprimanded. Please get in contact with me via email or phone as a driver head does not just disappear when it was in plain site between the hitting area and the red pole. The head is a black Orlimar Hip Ti. Thanks for your help.

here is the same driver FWIW. yes I know it isnt expensive but I could crank it and sure as hell wasn't planning on getting a new driver anytime soon. Talk about a rough round playing without a driver

You are SOL. And $100+ dollars for that driver is a fricking fail. You can get a newer used club cheaper than what it would cost to buy a new shaft and reshaft it.

FWIW, I'm trying to unload a Callaway FT-9 Tour for $50. And it came out in 2009.

Nice, polite, clear and well-written e-mail, for what it's worth.

Good luck getting a new driver; maybe they will throw you a bone.

Same thing happened to me when I was 16 playing in a junior golf tournament in Columbus, GA. We had just come back from a lightning/rain delay. Uphill par 4 and I smoke my Taylor Made Tour Burner (metal wood days ) and felt the shaft go light all of a sudden. There was a lake just off the tee and about 3 seconds later I saw a splash. It took a while to figure out if the splash was from the clubhead or the ball. It turned out that my drive ended up going about 260 yards down the middle of the fairway and the club head was in the lake.

It's ironic that Boo Weekley was mentioned in this thread because I just happened to be playing with him and another friend of mine that I grew up playing junior golf with that day.
