Final Fantasy XIII worth buying?

Need a good budget game. I'm bored. FFX is one of my favorite games of all time, but its my only FF game. Should I check this one out?

Never played FFXIII. Got FFXIII-2 recently. It's been a pretty fun game so far. Awesome story and graphics. Kinda repetitive though.

As a huge Final Fantasy fan this game does abandon a lot of what makes a Final Fantasy title Final Fantasy.
With that said I did find this game amazing for the battle system alone. I would recommend this game.

ff 13's story is by far the weakest in the series. Very dull/annoying characters and very linear gameplay with no towns/cities and few sidequests. You can only use one character when fighting and you have to wait till late in the game to make the party of characters you want.
The positives are the graphics are out of this world and the battle system is pretty fun but gets repetitive after awhile.
If your looking for FFX standards this isn't it but is an ok game.

No. FFXIII is terrible. Bad story, unlikeable characters, no sidequests, very linear gameplay, and a completley repetitive battle system.

This is an example of somebody expecting every FF game to be FF7 or FFX.. Go into it expecting some entertainment and you'll enjoy the playthrough IMO.

No. I'll admit I'm a pretty big FF fanboy. XIII is literally the only one that I haven't finished, and have no desire to finish.
There's only so much of the aforementioned XXXXXXX,L1,XXXXXXX(YOU WIN THE BATTLE), Walk straight forward until another cutscene/battle, rinse, repeat I can take.

And even a bad FF with a poor plot is still miles above the average for the genre.

Call me spoiled then but when going into buying a FF game I expect more then what they gave in ff 13. Even though 12 was sort of a flop at least they made an effort with their game play with more room to roam and sidequests.

I contemplated quitting many times. But I kept playing in hopes that the plot and/or characters would get better.. but they didn't. And by the time I got to 30 hours, I said hell.. I'm almost done, I may as well see the resolution.

Seriously, FFXIII was garbage. None of the characters resonated with me at all, and I don't have a single fond memory of it. I played through most of the game, and it was a huge waste of time.

FFXIII sucked.
I was a huge fan of anything and everything Squaresoft up til just after FFX. Steady downward spiral ever since, IMO.
- granted my ps2 died before FF12 came out, so I've never even played that one.

I thought the battle system in 12 was awesome. It almost played like an action game - I rarely had any interaction during the fights, but I was constantly changing gambits.
