IDK how familiar you are with New Orleans but thats nowhere near where you want to be for the good stuff. Not saying it's impossible to get around but you're going to have to do a lot of cabbing

well, Metairie is a suburb of New Orleans, who has their own Mardi Gras parades separate from the New Orleans parades. They are not as big, not as good, but still fun. More of a family atmosphere.

The Travel Inn, going off memory, is a cheap motel on Airline HWY. Not a bad area of town. But not close to even the Metairie parade route. And frankly not a great hotel(motel)


with that being said, you are a short cab ride(or a bus ride, if you wish) from the good action if yall want to have a good time at the New Orleans parades.

Endymion Parade is Saturday in New Orleans. Most people will tell you it is the best parade to see in the city. I'd get out an see it if I were you. You'll find most locals catch it near the beginning of the route. I think the safest bet for a tourist is either here, or near Lee Circle or St Charles Ave toward the end of the route. If you choose the latter, you'll see the parade much later in the night 10/11pm or so. If you watch by the beginning, you'll see the parade around 6:30- 7 or so.

Sunday is also a great day for parades in New Orleans. If you wont be around mardi gras day, then this is probably the best day for tourists to experience Mardi Gras. Im talking parades from 11am until the end of the night. Bacchus highlights the night. I think Will Ferrell is riding in Bacchus. Pack an ice chest, bring some folding chairs, maybe some po boys or Popeyes to munch on, and find a spot anywhere along St CHarles Avenue. If you want specific spots, just ask. Same goes with Saturday; if yall think this is something you want to do, people can give specifics But im not going to go into huge detail when you dont know where or what you want to do.


on Monday, i think a great thing for tourists to do is head to Bourbon Street. There are no parades during the day on Monday, and the crowd on Bourbon is big, but not as big as it is on Fat Tuesday. If you have never been to Mardi Gras and want to see all the stuff you see on TV, then go. Tits, beer, etc. Just about everything goes. Bring a camera cause you'll want to document it to show your friends. Trust me. If you have good endurance, stick around all day and watch the 2 parades that will start Uptown and end downtown near the French Quarter. Orpheus is the best parade of the night.


Mardi Gras day; Tuesday. A ton of history. Zulu(all black parade) and Rex. Great, great, great parades. Get up early. They start at 8am or so. Again, pick a spot along St Charles Avenue. For more specifics, just ask.



As far as food, in Metairie, you aren't going to find much happening. They have good spots, but when you are talking Mardi Gras, you will have to go all over the place to eat as well as see the parade.
