I actually started watching the first season, and I've seen a few here and here throughout the years.

My question is is the audience supposed to take the side of Moulder or Scully, and if Moulder then are we to pull for Scully to give in and accept the paranormal?

Well, even in season 1 and especially in season 2 you can tell that the writers want to portray her as a skeptic of the intentionally obtuse variety. Even when she can't call upon scientific dogma to help her rationalize the things she is exposed to, she bends science to fit her needs so that she doesn't become vulnerable. You could say that "Science" is a sheath that protects her from mysteries and chaos she is afraid to confront.

So I'd say that the intention of the writers, if there is any particular one, is for you to hope that Scully lowers her defenses and begins to cope with the supernatural in a healthier way than simply denying plausibility at every turn.

Unlike Lost, the X-Files was not worth the trouble IMO.

Bad Blood when they are telling the story from different perspectives. I've always loved that one.

Ahh. Ok. That's what I thought, but some of her claims were fairly legitimate...she just always comes in a second too late. And there always isn't a paranormal reason for something.

Certainly not, but some of the phenomena depicted on the show defy any kind of cold explanation, or they at least seem to be incompatible with current scientific paradigms. I think Scully's character arc can be summed up with with the show's unofficial mantra, "I want to believe". She doesn't become more passively susceptible to Mulder's far-flung ideas, but rather begins to desire to find the same kind of "truth" he is looking for as they become closer.

The one where they got stuck in some cave that was feeding off them and it had some hallucination stuff was pretty good too

Can't remember the name of the episode. It's set up like an episode of cops & I think the thing that they were after took the form of what you feared the most.

This. Episode was crazy. Also the one where that crazy cult town tries to stick that worm into Scully.

great choice. I love the X Files. My dad loved it, and i grew up watching it to try to spend time with him. My fav episode has to be the one Mulder goes into the peruvian jungle to try to catch the alien signal at the old radio telescope station.

My favorite series of all time.

Love the Circus Freaks episode, Indian werewolf one, and the giant fungus is on up there. I've been wanting to watch seasons 1-3 again for a while now.

"Rush"

Something about it was just freaky, and a little creepy.
