Suntiger selects Austin Apodaca, QB from Washington State.
Ht: 6'2"
Wt: 175 lbs
Threw for almost 4,000 yards his Sr year. With 44 TDs and 10 int and took his team to the State Championship. But let's be honest, I'm taking him because he's going to play for Mike Leach and will be in his system for 4/5 years. Maybe the next Kliff Kingsburry or Graham Harrell. His Jr film and stats were ok. He committed to WSU very early and shut it down. Then had a good Sr year and good Sr film. I think the early committ and the fact that he was going to WSU is the reason for the low ranking, but he's got a good arm, throws with good touch and is a pretty good athlete.

This evaluation is based on a 7 on 7 tournament so not everything can be scrutinized. He has great leadership skills and plays well under pressure when the game is on the line. He made several amazing passes to the corner of the end zone putting it in perfect stride with his receiver and so that only his receiver could catch it. Had a couple of passes sail on him but he was very accurate on the day, needs to get a bit quicker on the release.

I feel the same about this pick as I do with the Javalle Allen pick very little chance he ever sees the field but with the last pick and already having Kline, the upside of having a potential Leach QB is worth it.
