The Navy arguably saved Notre Dame during WWII (when ND provided a much needed training ground for Navy members and they utilized the campus). We play them every year in appreciation. A lot more goes into that game than fans outside the program realize and it is absolutely the second-most important game (not from a football standpoint, but from a historical standpoint) on ND's schedule every year.

I'm not doubting the history or saying its a game that should be canceled, but as one sided as it is, its not a true rivalry. Players don't go to Notre Dame because, man we get to play Navy and back before my grandparents were born, Navy really help ND
