He is pretty damned solid too, I mean he is not cut but he is not fat either... he just has a very heavy, broad frame to go along with his height. If he does end up on defense he is a DT not a DE IMO... and if the goes to TE and makes a successful conversion he will be terrifying.
Of course I have more faith in his arm that the recruiting sites do, he still managed to make some strong throws with awful mechanics and we actually have a QB coach who can work on mechanics now so in 2-3 seasons he could be getting the most out of his arm and accuracy, if he develops and we chose to keep him at the position.

Got ourselves a little cam newton type action potentially......

I personally love the kid. If he is 270 then if he loses 20 pounds he is essentially the same size and speed of cam newton. doesnt have the arm though. I just hope our coaches can convince him that eating cake is an NCAA violation

Same speed as Cam Newton?

Right; because everyone knows reported 40 times on recruiting sites are 100% accurate...
Dude weighs ~280+ pounds; he's not running a 4.6.

Has anyone run a basic BMI on Liggins? It's what insurance companies look at when rating...
6'3"
270lbs
18yr male
33.7 BMI (OBESE)
Mine is 32.7 and I'm fat and haven't been to a gym in years.
Liggins is Obese, at 280lb he's 35.0 which is medically Considered chronic. It's a medical fact...
Now as for the 4.6, saw that on bleacher report and it could limit his runs IMO to short yardage which increases injury risk, as does bad conditioning. It's risky at best and the upside is Rohan Davey, which has value to be sure, but next year we need 2 QB's and Miles has to stop it with the pet projects. He opened his remarks defensively to the press at the news conference and his later remarks in praise of Liggins have torpedoed into national controversy.

you can see film on lsusports.net. but to answer your question, yes he's 270 maybe 280.

does make sense that he needs to lose 20 lbs though like we said and moffit will get that off and turn the rest of it into muscle and maybe recruiting sites arent accurate on there 40 but what are we supposed to do go time them ourselves. dont be dumb

miles didn't have much of a choice this year. keil left him in a bad spot and he had to get a qb.

According to the BMI index Tim Tebow is obese at 6'3 240. He would have a BMI value of 30 which is in the obese range.
I don't think the BMI was designed to rate highly conditioned athletes. Someone who was a couch potato at 6'3 270 is a very different human than an active athlete at the same stats.
Just my opinion but it does make some sense.

The guy is athletic not fat. As for the guy who said his BMI makes him obese- BMI is terrible for atheltes. Ray Lewis and Laron Landry would be obese if you got their BMI.
Moffitt will take about 15 lbs off him and I think we may have something special whether its at qb tight end or Dend its anyones guess right now. Looking forward to it!

quote:No, it's not your opinion; it's a fact. Every bodybuilder is obese per BMI ratings. BMI doesn't distintuish between muscle and fat, which is why it's a BS statistic. That doesn't stop insurance companies, etc. from using it, but that's only because they don't have a better tool.

agreed totally looking forward to this kid. moffitt and Krags get him sorted out gaurentee and as far as him switching positions I only beleive he does that if there is absolutely no way whatsoever they feel he can do it, and they had JJ so that is asking a lot. Miles wanted a qb in this class so i dont think we are going DE.

I completely agree that this season hes qb and if he progresses and shows promise hes stays. If not then he has freak talent that you get on the field somewhere else. All articles have him quoted as being a very solid character guy who says he just wants to get on the field wherever he can.

I'm pretty sure Mett dropped 25-30 before fall from the time he signed. I see no reason for Liggins not to do the same. I've seen the workouts these guys get from LSU to get them ready for summer enrollment, and they will have him ready. I'm calling it now, 6'3 250 by fall, you dont want him too small
Posted on 2/3/12 at 7:42 pm to LoveThatMoney
Yeah, but he has the foot work of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly rolled into one!
Whoa!
Whoa!

i totally agree. i could knock 20 lbs of pure fat off that guy in 6 weeks if he'd follow a nutrition program...with zero muscle loss.
Moreover, i bet when he starts training moffit-style AND eating right his weight will stay put and he will just get a lot leaner and faster. in other words, he will lose fat but GAIN muscle. depends where he is in his maturity and natural development. he's got the makings of a real beast though.
