There is no advantage to having a long snapper in early

Well, if you are planning on him being a starter, I think the advantage is that you need to get him acclimated and working with your team ASAP.

But I do agree it sucks losing Miller.

I don't have a problem with Ferguson being an EE even if the perception is that Miller's spot went to him. It's not true of course since Kiel was the one that cost Miller a spot but when broken down the LS would usually be the odd man out. It was said the other day that Miller wasn't a full sell to the staff. Split on his ability and fit for the team so that may have contributed to the reason he was told to wait. Ferguson is the 1 freshman that is guaranteed to compete for playing time next year.

Interesting, didn't know that.

I saw that the other day too. Sounds like Gonz was higher on miller than the rest of the staff.

Not saying it's gospel but that is just maybe 1 reason Miller was chosen to be the odd man out. Other contributing factors could have been Ferguson and Alexander being teammates, the instate kids taking priority or just plain monetary reasons. The Millers are quite flush.

Or it could be that they were in the BCS CG in 2009 and won 10 games, 10 years in a row before that

Agreed. It amazes me at how quickly people seems to forget that before 2 years ago, we went 9-10 seasons of 10+ wins that included 4 BCS bowl appearances with 3 BCS victories including a National Title. Most of these kids being recruiting grew up with always seeing Texas in the top 5-10 in the country and now they are building back up after a craptastic 2010 campaign and an improved 2011 season. People can be completely short-sighted sometimes, but the necessary changes were made and the team seems to be moving in the right direction. Some kids want to go to Texas because it's their dream, while others may want to be part of the class that brings Texas back to the top. Texas will always be an attractive place for instate recruits, just like LSU is for top LA talent.

Well according to Orangebloods LSU has no shot at him, and basically LSU can't take anybody that they really want. I really want this kid, not only is he very talented, but it would really piss them off.

Well there's your first mistake right there. OB is Texas sunshine-pumper central and everything read from there should be taken with a grain of salt. I trust 24/7 a lot more and Gerry has said that LSU is definitely a player for RS-J. Hopefully the Horns win out, but there is a long way to go.

OK, are you trying to argumentative? He's the fricking long snapper, there's no reason he can't get acclimated in the summer. Its not like he needs to learn a huge play book, his job requires timing, that's it. Long snapper is not anywhere close to as important as a kicker or punter and I'd still take an OL over one of those.

If you gave his scholie to a long snapper, its stupid.

This.

Seems like if Mack offers a Texas kid and they don't commit on the spot he washes his hands of them.

Probably depends on how good you are, but Mack has a strongly encouraged, "NO visit after you commit policy."

Though he has zero issue with recruiting players committed to other schools.

SO who did you plan on snapping to Wing during the pring? Our OL sucks at long snapping btw. Spring is the time that you work on technique and fine tuning. It makes it that much more difficult to work with the kickers and punters when you don't have any long snappers. And I for one would rather have a LS starter for the season than a 3rd string OL scout player.
