Not at all. Was just stating the obvious.

This is a great chance for McGauhey and Henry to prove their worth, though.

Who really knows how any of this will shake out come next February? What I do like is the way CLM is aggresively pursuing Texas talent, aided in large part by the hire last year of Special Teams coach Thomas McGaughey and the more recent hire of Adam Henry as Wide Receivers coach. From a shear numbers standpoint Texas will always have vastly more prospects than Louisiana and establishing pockets of opportunity there should prove beneficial for years to come (and will sure be fun to watch!)

Well, maybe I'm in the minority but I think Smith is better.

I agree Smith is currently better at TE but Seals-Jones has more potential. Whether at Wr or TE I think Jones can be a game changer.

Has either one of them ever taken a snap at TE?

Smith is a TE

Seals Jones is a Wr/Qb but most project him as a te

I know Smith is listed as a TE but has he ever played it? It seems like all of the highlights I've seen are of him split out as a WR. I'm just wondering if their offense ever actually has him lined up as a TE, or if they are in 4 wide all the time.

I get info from my friend on OB and Jones says it's Texas LSU battle right now. I know it's a long way to go but I think he could be a great pick up.

He is a good blocker and is like a new age TE.

Gronk, Witten, Clark

They all create mismatches and often line up in the slot.

had to waste a scholly on a long snapper to get him AND let the long snapper waste an early enrollee spot which left Patrick Miller in the cold and sent him to Auburn

So who else do you plan on our long snapper being next year then?

The Smith/RSJ argument is meaningless as to who's better. We'd take both and that is the plan if RSJ thwarts Texas but that isn't likely. RSJ is being recruited as a WR according to him. He won't stay there but that's the pitch. All in all his talent is one you take and figure out where to put him after he's on campus. Quite common in recruiting.

I like Griffen myself but if he fails to qualify or chooses to concentrate on basketball then waht good is he?

Did anyone else hear the rumor/supposed statement Wilson said about Henry being given the FL recruiting assignment? Never got clarified as to whether is was just misheard or truth. Had to be a mistake. The word panhandle was used and I'm guessing people just assumed the FL version instead of the Texas version. I hope anyway.

I'd say more like a Julio Jones on the collegiate level. Just IMHO though.

Max thinks kickers and punters and anyone else related to the positions are wastes of scholarships.

That's at least until a RS fresh avgs 6 in. Per return. I'm sure if someone start screwing up snaps on ST, he'd blame the recruiting staff for not recruiting decent players at the position. We all know good/excellent snappers are so easy to find.

I think that's what happened. Probably gave him the northern parts of Texas while McGaughney handles the south parts and intertwine if needed. Still wish Ensminger would go for someone who has ties in Florida, but I think we will still do fine down there

Why does every assume he'll move to TE? Too slow for WR? His frame, while large, isn't too big for a WR IMO. But I don't know a ton about the kid.

I'm not opposed to giving 1 of 85 scholorships to him, but if you have a limited # of spots for EE, you take an OL over a pure long snapper every time, that's a no brianer.

I agree with this.

Yep.

One of the offensive lineman has to be able to do a decent job of longsnapping.

yes, if he wants to EE, he can pay his own way for a semester or just enroll in the Fall. There is no advantage to having a long snapper in early. He could be the GOAT of long snappers and it won't matter. Yeah, if the long snapper fricks up it could cost you, how often has that happened?
