Hog question

Hog trap set with camera is set, using corn but damn racoons keep coming in and triggering the trap before the hogs show up. Camera shows the hogs trying to get into the trap to get the corn but its too late. Anyway bait to draw in the hogs still but not the coons?

I've heard mixing some diesel or motor oil with the corn helps attract hogs but everything else will stay away.

Diesel on top of the corn usually works and motor oil or hydraulic fluid work also. We have had to bury the corn but generally diesel works. Plan B would be trap the coons.

This, diesel on corn or catch the coons.

Just curious, what to do with the coons other than try to kill them off?

What they said. Sour the corn or mix it with diesel.

You can try to relocate them if you use live traps. some hunters around here will take them to train their dogs. Personally I use snares, foothold or dps but I have a guy that will buy them for the hide

What kind of trap are you using?

I would love to trap hogs but there are none on the land I hunt. Question, when you guys do this do you still eat the meat?

Soybeans. Coons don't eat beans. You're welcome.

I have two on the property I use, one wooden, one steel. I'll clean the piglets and small females but just kill all big ones for the land owner.(125 lbs+)

Sour the corn in bucket with beer and diesel fuel for a few days. The coons should leave it alone. Good luck.

Believe me, you do not want those f'ing things on your hunting land. They are a menace. We killed 11 this past weekend, I'm ready for more action. Hogs or deer, what do you want.
