quote:Great post. I haven't met anyone that could defend him through the second half of the game.
It was absolutely, totally and completely irrational in the moment, and finding someone who thinks it wasn't irrational is virtually impossible. Even folks who have little or no football knowledge could see that a change needed to be made. Trying to excuse his thought process by saying we can only see it was irrational with the benefit of 20/20 is ridiculous. Did you see the posts that were made DURING THE COURSE OF THE GAME? Everyone knew what needed to happen. He's either (a) stubborn, or (b) stupid. Take your pick.

Stop looking for excuses for Miles- he screwed up, did a terrible job coaching the BCS gamee- poor prep, game plan, in game coaching and continues to mishandle the explanation of what happened No on else in the program gets paid 4 mil to make decisions except CLM> The buck stops with him Please stop making excuses He coached 13 good games and then finished the season with one of his worst coaching games since at LSU
I haven't seem anyone making excuses or defending what happened last Monday.
But I have seen people defend miles from the reactionary morons that are trying to get him fired.
There is a huge difference. Criticism is fine. But some of you have made it personal and are actually trying to hurt the program that you call yourselves a "fan" of.
No one is above criticism. What happened last week was terrible. But the overall direction of the program is still great. Hell we just won an SEC championship.
Lsu is ranked preseason #1 by almost every publication going in to next year. That says a lot about this team, coaches and program overall.

So in lieu of reading all this shite, did the guy say anything important or did he just skip around the questions as usual? It's one thing to hear him stumble through interviews when he's winning, but after that loss.....he needs to say something of relevance.

I think very few people actually want the man fired. What they do want is some accountability from the man making 4 mil a year.

Half these morons dont even know how good we have it right now. Yeah it hurts that Les didn't have the team prepared and didn't make adjustments. He is still our HC and there is no one better suited to lead us, he will learn from this mistake. I laugh when I see the people wanting him to leave/be fired. Bandwagon/Sunny day fans.......Just to put it in perspective, I had a guy pull up next to me a few days after the NC game at the gas station. Noticing my LSU decal on my truck, he started talking about how he was such a huge LSU fan before but since the Head Coach couldn't see that JEFFREY LEE should have been put in the game, he was done with supporting LSU sports.

Les has a language all his own. But, I screwed up is not in it. He makes 3.5 mil a yr. come-on-man.

Oh wow...being a true fan means we must unequivocally support the COACH.
FAIL.
FAIL.

He did say that with the benefit of hindsight he would have played Lee
Did he decide this after watching Lee play last night?

I'll you straight up that I wouldn't want the guy fired. You don't fire a guy with his record.
BUT, there is no getting around that A LOT of what is being talked about on this board has been echoed far outside the LSU fan base. Moreover, there is no getting around that LSU's primary recruiting ground is LOUISIANA. This means that there is probably a very similar percentage of RECRUITS and RECRUIT PARENTS who saw what happened after Bama 1 and have questions similar those seen in here.
Failure to adequately answer those questions to regular fans is irrelevant. Unfortunately, we don't recruit space aliens. The kids and their parents are part of the same group of folks. Failure to address THEM most certainly CAN have an effect going forward.

The thing is though, if, and it is a big IF, some recruit and his family who looks at one personnel situation at qb to determine if they will go to lsu, it is most likely to be someone on the offensive side of the ball. Mainly at qb and receiver.
I really don't see how this would affect any defensive player's, o line or running backs decisions.
I really think this could be an overreaction to an emotional position about the qb by some. If there is any recruiting effect. It will be minimal. IMO.
Oh and shorty Rob, we have had some arguments on here and I have unfairly called you out some. I apologize and am looking more to discuss issues instead of attack opinions. Unless they are too crazy

I tried to get an intelligible rundown of the presser and instead got 30+ pages of, basically, kids calling each other stupid...

This is the point. It's not the fans that are making Miles look bad. The whole damn country saw that debacle on the 9th and it awoke all the negative voices that had been quieted by a 13-0 season. Les Miles is again the village idiot and there is NO ONE TO BLAME FOR THAT BUT LES. Unfortunately I fear that nothing short of a crystal ball will quiet them again. The feather in Miles hat was the way his teams played in big games. Well......

Agreed.
I'd be stunned if it really affected defense much. Chavis' rep + LSU defensive performance should keep those rolling in.
BUT, the problem with that is, program deflation is sometimes not quick. It CAN start with gradually devolving recruiting on one side of the ball that results in fewer victories which eventually affects overall recruiting.
I mean let's face it. Saban got SEVEN of the top 100 this year while we got NONE. Now, one year does not a total recruiting tale tell. BUT, if that shite continues, it WILL get noticeable on the field.

"half these morons"? "cant see how good we have it right now"? Could it be that some people know how fleeting anyone's chances of a national championship are? How seldom they come along? How stupid it is to excuse atrocities this year in lieu of the talent we have (had) for next year? Assuming blindly all the pieces will fall together again? Morons? nah, more like peeps who just saw one helluva an oppo missed

To sum it up, Miles bet on the wrong horse. He still seems to believe Jefferson's "mobility" was more important than quarterback skills.
Miles needed a V-8 moment, where he slaps his forehead and exclaims he coulda shoulda had a Jarrett Lee.
It always makes me laugh to read JJ "won" the job back! He was gifted the job.
We did have a GREAT season, it just ended with a thud and bitter disappointment. I am glad thus 13-1 season included total redemption for Jarrett. Coupled with his strong play last year he left on top. It pisses me off to read a bunch of dickheads hear talk of his fear in the pocket etc.
Les cant soft peddle his treatment of Lee or his misuse of the kid.
