Ingram contributed very little this season. He is very injury prone.

We did. Cam Jordan is a defensive end.
ETA: We picked him before Ingram.

We did draft defense, and he has been very unproductive (Jordan).

what constitutes "very" injury prone? if he missed half, 3/4, or all of the season... then what is he. if he is "very" right now... whats half a year sport? whats the ENTIRE year?

is pierre "very" injury prone for getting his jaw broken and fumbling away the ball on the goal line? what about lisfranc boy? is he "very" as well?
come on man. have we had ingram long enough, has he been injured enough... for you to say that mess?

He started coming on late in the year. If Jordan keeps improving, there's no reason to think he can't be another Will Smith type of player. No, he hasn't had the impact of say a Von Miller, but Jordan was picked in the 20's not top-5.
I'm not giving up on Ingram. I didn't like the pick because I don't like taking any RB's in the first round unless they are a very, very special talent. RB is a position that you can find much later in the draft (see Arian Foster - UDFA) Hell look at the Saints top guys, Thomas and Ivory, both UDFA. Not drafting 2 defensive guys (since contrary to the OP, the Saints did draft one) is not the reason for yesterday's loss

Let's play the if game.
If the Saints had not made that boneheaded trade for pudding ball Ingram, they'd have had the #56 pick last year.
At #56, the Saints should have picked up a linebacker. The best available at that time were:
Jonas Mouton
Nate Irvin
Kelvin Sheppard
I'm not sure if any of these guys were any good or will be good, but I'd rather give a roster spot to Aaron Brooks and have the #1 pick this year than have had Ingram last year. He was a liability because playing him cut touches from Sproles and PT, two far superior players.

disagree. He added much needed quality depth.

Not really. Drafting him was more of a numbers game. Last year we had Julius fricking Jones toting the rock in a playoff game. Yesterday, we were left with only 2 RBs again at the end of the season, only this year, instead of Jones and some other no-name bum off the street, it was Darren Sproles and Chris Ivory. It worked out. We didn't draft Ingram to rush for 1200+ yards--that's not what this offense is all about. I do think he'll become more and more involved in the next year or so.

The draft defense part is legit. We dont have any LBers that can pass-rush or run well. Wilson gives us hope, but aside from VIlma, the cupboard is still relatively bare there.
Also, how many sacks did our DLine generate? [crickets chirping] As pass-firendly as the rules have gotten in the secondary, the best way to disrupt the passing game is pressure, and if you cant generate pressure without sending half your defense, youre gonna be in trouble.

If Saints would have pulled out the win then there is a chance that Ingram is the starting back in the next game.
