I never really thought about silencers and therefor have no idea but I bought a .22 ruger and that sob is the loudest .22 I've ever heard. Was just wondering if I could legally put a silencer on it and if I can what do I have to do to go about getting one and implementing it on my rifle. Tia

Yes...if you jump through a few hoops.

ETA: But they're illegal to hunt with, and if you're just plinking around without hearing protection, you dumb.

You're complaining about it being loud, are you not?

And a .22 rifle is plenty loud enough to cause hearing damage.

I'm complainig about it to being louder than regular .22's and i thought it would be sweet to put a silencer on it and pop squirrels/rabbits while deer hunting and not worry snout ruining a hunt. And if I saw u wearing ear protection while shooting a .22 I'd probably laugh at you.

That's cool, because if a DWF agent saw you carrying a silenced rifle around while hunting he'd probably take it from you, write you a really expensive ticket, and maybe arrest you.

Furthermore, I'll enjoy hearing your laughs while you're suffering from partial hearing loss.

A dealer will help you with the paper work, get your prints and you have to get a CLEO sign off. After that pay the $200 for a tax stamp and wait. There are other methods such as setting up a Trust and LLCs to avoid having to get a CLEO sign off.

Legal, yes. You must fill out a class 3 license and pay a $200-300 tax and then get the sheriff to approve of your application.

May be more to it than that but that is basically it.

And yes, wear hearing protection always.

Well of course if it's illegal I won't do it. That's why I'm asking.

I know for a fact that you read my comment about it being illegal BEFORE posting about hunting with one.

Are you challenged, or just stupid?

Absolutely not joking. I've lost enough of my hearing as it is. I don't want to lose anymore.

So y'all wear plugs when just messing around with your .22 rifle outside?

I think I confused some of y'all. When I said "use" I meant hunting with my .22 rifle. Sorry for not making that clear.

My .22 pistol is loud as frick. Yea I use plugs. Only time I don't is hunting/walking in the woods. And if I suck hunted a lot I'd probably get some of the ones that let you hear low sounds but cut out loud ones
