1. Tyrann Mathieu as a punt returner.
Tyrann didn't return a single punt against Bama, and honestly I hadn't been impressed all season. But he has turned it on and gained more than half of his season Punt return yards in the last tow games, not to mention 2 touchdowns.

2. Kevin Minter as MLB
He ha gotten more playing time, and as a result has chalked up 23 of his 56 tackles since the Bama game. He also really brought the wood against UGA. Karnel Hatcher has 22 in all games up to and including the Bama game.

3. Jordan Jefferson as a passer
Took a step back against Georgia, but had a 208 yard game against Arkansas, an 88 yard game against ole MIss 9only threw7 passes) and a 168 yard game against western kentucky. Im not saying he is better than JL but he is threw at least as well as him, and bring the running element to the game in a one QB package.

4. Getting to the QB
In the last four games we have had 16 sacks. That is 16 of our 37 sacks in the last four games.

5. Spreading the Ball around in the running game.
Kenny Hilliard and Blue have ran for 520 of their combined 859 yards since the Bama game, and that is with blue sitting out a game against arkansas, and Hilliard only getting the ball on the goal line against WKU. They have also scored 10 of their combined 15 touchdowns in those games. In the Bama game Blue got 0 carries, and Hilliard got 2 (I am not sure if they were from RB or FB) Combines Ford, Ware, Blue and Hilliard have run for 921 of their total 2314 yards in the last 4 games (40%)

I know this has been talked to death, but do you ever really get tired of hearing it?

Meanwhile Bama has missed 2 more field goals from 40+ yards

i think these will be the reasons we win larger than last time. i think our offensive line will play with williford and lonergan at full speed

Good post. Solid analysis and the numbers to back it up.

Not to be negative, but we have had slow starts in the last 2 games. I hope that gets improved.

You make good points about our team. Especially because they are in aspects that were weaknesses on 11/5. I know we got a couple sacks, but still. The last comment really tells the tale, we have improved on our weakness, Bama still tries to and misses kicks from beyond 40

Great points! It also can't be overemphasized that Jefferson has played far, far better with lengthy preparation time. I think the usual week between games does not help his performances.

Not when it's worded as well as you've put it and backed up with facts

Also like the fact that LSU has had to play from behind in score a couple of times this year.

LSU (has) improved since Nov 5th

That's what jumps out at me. Looking at the two teams, Alabama is pretty much the same team they were on Nov. 5th, while we have changed (and improved) a lot since then. Kenny Hilliard, Jefferson as the starter, Mathieu out of his post-suspension funk, etc. are all major upgrades from the team that took the field to start the game on Nov. 5th.

Lonergran and Ken Adams will also be healthy this time around.
