Boy was I wrong on that one.
JR did not know how to do that, and that ultimately was his downfall. But anyone with any sense could see the train wreck coming. People like SFP and Hot Carl would be enamored by the raw talent, but have the inability to see the bad. and recognize it.

JJ/JL threads were getting boring so the Rant had to bring in a classic.
Also are LSU fans the only people who could think the QB with the completion % 10+ points lower is the smart accurate one?

Yes ,old news for anyone who knew the difference.

Jamarcus Russell was a great college quarterback who started for appx 2 1/2 years while Matt Flynn was only given 1 year. The NFL has a way of separating quarterbacks. Seems that Jamarcus lacks either mental confidence, drive or both. Matt Flynn didn't possess the enormous physical arm that Jamarcus has, but obviously has something that Jamarcus doesn't.

Of the two i always thought flynn had the better brains and had a bigger future

Come on, JR is the more physically gifted QB and Flynn is the smarter/better game manager. Flynn is a Bart Star/Joe Montana type of QB.

I was trying to tell people this when he was JR's back-up. It goes to show you that CLM can be wrong too

But but but Jamrcus could pass the length of the football field on his knees.

Russell was a far better QB at LSU than Flynn was. Not only did he possess more natural talent than Flynn, Russell also performed better on the field. I love Matt and always will for QBing the NC team but anyone that says that he was better at LSU in anyway is either really dumb or really racist.
It appears as though Flynn will have the better NFL career, but I think he was in a better situation to succeed than Russell was. Flynn was able to learn from the sidelines from a coaching staff that is great with QBs. Russell was drafted by one the absolute worst ran teams in the league with a horrible head coach that didn't want him in the first place. Not sure if any QB could have succeeded in Oakland under the same set of circumstances as JaMarcus faced. The one that actually probably hurt him the most was being drafted #1 overall. If he had slipped in the draft he would have ended up with a better team and having something to prove. Getting all that money and unwarranted sense of entitlement by being taken #1 overall was just what he needed to destroy his career.

Russell believed his press clippings and his agent.
Flynn has had the chance to be a back up for years.
When they were at LSU I preferred Flynn, because he knew where the chains were and kept drives alive by running to the chains.

Boy was I wrong on that one. Flynn's got almost a third of JR's career TD passes today.
Me too Ritt. And Les too.
After JR was drafted No. 1 Les said..."see we were playing the right guy after all."
To be fair JR had a pretty darn good senior year, every bit as good as Flynn's senior year if not better IMHO. Both good college QB's but one had a better work ethic obviously. When you get to the NFL it's a man game and you have to choose to do the work yourself to keep up. Flynn obviously has, and JR obviously has not.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Exhibit A as to why the JJ/JL argument will never be over. 8 pages of arguing over whether Flynn's pro "success" retroactively makes him the better QB while at LSU. Players that have not taken a snap at LSU for 4-5 years...
Never.
Going.
Away.

I'm not reading this shite. Yeah MF is better on 1/1/12. Between 2005 and 2006 JR was the better QB and was rightfully the starter.
