Oh man, this number and fact game is so difficult to play.
you left off passing yards and completion %
how come?

I was playing by the bleacher report rules of only posting convenient facts and numbers.

So hypothetically speaking, if brees ends the year with 600 more passing yards and 7 touchdowns and rebreaks the completion percentage and breaks completion record, is he not a legit contender?
ETA: and no more picks.

of course he is, but the media's minds are made up IMO.

He'll have 2nd place on the lock down. No doubt. But in order for him to have a legitimate chance of winning, Aaron has to have a bad performance and probably lose against the Bears on SNF this weekend and Drew needs to do what he do on MNF. But If aaron continues to do well and same with Drew, I think it's aaron's hardware locked up already.

once he breaks the record monday night I immediately plan on starting an MVP chant in dome... no doubt about it.

You asked for numbers and facts and now aren't satisfied with numbers and facts. Why am I viewed negatively for just laying out the reality of the situation here?

I can't argue against Aaron but I think there would be votes that go both ways. I think Aaron won the award through the first 8 weeks, but if brees rolls on this pace his last 8 weeks outweigh arodges. Just sayin.

But what if the score is 38-24 Falcons up with a minute left when he does?

I will handle the situation accordingly of course.

Atlanta is playing good ball, but I don't any body could beat us on Monday night in the Dome.

Here's a good tid bit.
6 of the last 8 years, the NFL MVP of the league was on the team with the best record in the league. The two times went to a player not having the best record in the league, they had the 2nd best record and they were only 1 game back. We're currently 2 games back from GB obviously. If they win this weekend, their last game is absolutely meaningless and writers will already have their ballots filled. You want drew to win, root like hell for the bears.

Thing is, as much as I want him to win it, it may work to our advantage for him to be passed over. He's a competitive maniac already, and him not getting the MVP when he's playing the best ball of his career might send him into berserk mode.

I think it would be nice for him to get some sort of dues for what he will accomplish by the end of the year, but I think I will be doing all my non-saint rooting for Seattle this weekend for sure.

I think the nfl should just datamine twitter for their mvp award; find out who has had their name tweeted the most this year.
Or they could change the award to the mpp, most popular player. That is a much much more accurate description.

all of those reasons suck
you dont win MVP based on 1 game, or 2 games, or even 6 games.

Wait, mike's reasons or the article?
B/c even i'm not clicking that link.
But of course, I want Brees to get it, he just probably won't...
Guess he'll have to settle for another Rozelle Trophy
Posted on 12/22/11 at 3:30 pm to Chad504boy
6th reason...He personally went out and recruited Darren Sproles, who has more than filled in for Reggie Bush. Like Peyton Manning said, "Drew Brees got Darren Sproles, you have to be kidding me. How the hell did that happen. You talk about unfair." BTW, he is currently recruiting Jeff Saturday if Peyton doesnt come back. He will also make sure Colston stays around. He is an extension of Payton and like Peyton Manning is a part-Coach/part-QB.
