Whether it was Peyton and Brady, or Rodgers and Brady, or Peyton and Rivers, Drew always seems to be "the next guy in".

He's been the main reason behind the Saints' remarkable change from perennial loser to Super Bowl winner. He’s on pace to set career and season passing records, but I rarely hear him listed in the top 2.

Why?
I have never heard a good explanation as to why he’s always placed at 3rd, like it’s just an understood fact.
Could someone enlighten me?

It is because of the East Coast Media Bias. If Brees played in New York, he would be at the top of the discussion.

P. Manning and Brady have won the MVP Award multiple times between them. Rodgers is on his way to one. It doesn't matter how many records Brees breaks. He's not part of that club. Of course, he was robbed of the MVP in 2009, but I'm sure he didn't mind settling for the Lombardi Trophy. That's something the league MVP that year couldn't do.

arguing this is pointless.

I know in my mind that he is the best QB and thats all that matters.

For one, the media hates the saints. Especially ESPN. I think it's a Louisiana thing, they just hate the state.
I would have to say that right now, Drew is the 2nd best right now behind Rogers. It's close, but no one is playin as good as Rogers right now.

How quickly we forget the gajillion Katrina pieces up until and a little bit afterwards SB44. We were "Americas Team" that year. I don't buy the "Media/ESPN hates the Saints" argument.

They pretty much push who is the big story and what will get them ratings.

+1

ESPN definitely has a hardon for La. Whether its LSU or the Saints, its as if they cannot recognize that our teams or as good as they are. That being said, i have no problem with Brees at #3. Compared to Manning and Brady, I think its a fair assessment. I'd put Brees over anyone else though, including Rogers and especially Rivers.

ESPN is the Tebow network right now. Before that, they were the Rodgers network. They're firm believers in overkill, mainly pandering to the big markets.

horse shite! they use the Katrina story to the point of patronizing the state. Katrina happened. its over. Move on. The only ones still bringing it up are people trying to pity the state or losers making excuses.

I think this goes hand in hand.

The fact that he doesn't play in the North, where the majority of the media resides, is probably the reason for the lack of consideration.

The same can probably be said for the Saints and LSU hate. On the other hand, "out of sight, out of mind" doesn't really apply in the modern age where games from across the country can be seen by everyone.

I can understand this as it applies to amount of coverage for a team, etc. However, it should have very little to do with discussing the best position players in the NFL.

It seems like there is a two person maximum in the conversation: Brady & ...
With Manning out with the injury, the plugged in Rodgers, and he has been playing great.

Why not Brees and Rodgers? They seem to be having the best year.

I can see the Rogers argument because he is playing pretty damn good right now. But Tom Brady is not better than Drew Brees.

Why are they giving Tebow so much air now? I watched the NFL show on ESPN the other day. Not one mention of the Saints, but Tebow came around every 5 minutes. Tebow Tebow Tebow.

You would think the Tebow Broncos were the No. 1 team in the NFL.

Rodgers is having the best year.

Brady and Brees are having almost identical seasons.

The only difference is brees is 70.9 completion percentage. Brady has one more touchdown and the same amount of INTs. Brees has like 100 more yards.

You can make an argument for either, honestly.

And lets not forget that Rodgers is doing all of this AFTER winning the Super Bowl, which usually doesn't happen. That's the impressive thing about his season.

I would say brees is the best but should be considered equal to Rodgers. Tom Brady is the only who is arguably better

Eh, I look at it this way.
1) Brady - he's #1 because he's got multiple SB rings and almost every season he's been in the league he's thrown out ridiculous stats.

2) A. Rodgers - look at what he's done in what - 4 seasons? Ridiculous stats and is also going for multiple SB rings this year. Best shot to go undefeated since Brady and company.

3) Brees - has a SB and puts up ridiculous stats with "no name" receivers. Makes everyone around him better.

4-whatever) Everyone else.

I put Brees at #3 simply because of "body of work" for entire career. He simply wasn't all world in SD like he is in NO. Rodgers and Brady have been.
It's also a "who gives a big shite" argument because I'd take any of these 3 over Matt Ryan.

He turns the ball over more than Brady, Manning and Rodgers.

Its no big deal. You get the #3 pick from the Victoria's Secret catalouge, she's still hot.
