I've been there before home games. You better bring plenty of cash if you plan on drinking.

I was there for Bama/LSU #1. The screen actually is a little small for the area. I had hoped it was going to be bigger. At least have multiple sceens out there. Was a blast to watch the game there just was a little hard to see.

Man, you are crazy. That screen is huge.
It has a very clear picture too for such a large screen.

what's the closest bar to the Dome to watch the game in case it's too cold out to be in Champ Sq?

I watched the first Bama game out there, and if you aren't in the front half of the square, the screen is a little small. couldn't read the score or make out player numbers from the back of the square.

within a managable walk is Happy's/Walk On's, Ditcharo's, McGuire's and the bars in the Hyatt. The french Quarter is about a 15 minute walk, with more than enough bars

I would maybe contact the Superdome and ask about the chair policy and even if they will show the game. You never know...ESPN could pull some BS that won't allow Champions Square to show the game. Also, being that there is an actual game in the Dome, Champions Square will most likely be a cluster frick and allowing people to camp out all day and bring chairs would just make it worse.

You can check the parking lot map and buy a parking pass for spot that over looks the square and has a view of the screen, then you bring your chairs and ice chests and tailgate. I know some people who do this for the saints games.

I emailed them last week and got a response yesterday. You won't have to have a ticket, but they're still working on getting the rights to broadcast the game.

I'm quite sure that those parking spots will not be available to the general public for this game.

I was wondering the same thing. I have never been there but the photos of the Square from the web site look great and the screen looks HUGE !!

They may not, as it will add to the large crowd that will already be there.

For LSU games on the screen people come early and set up lawn chairs. Pre-game that area is so packed that you can barely move (Saints) I couldn't imagine it plus all the lawn chairs and people claiming spots early.

They will not allow chairs on gameday. They don't allow them for Saints games because it gets so crowded before the game.

The watch parties for Bama and SEC Championship were special circumstances and people were encouraged to bring chairs.

My brother in law works for SMG. He said they currently do not have the rights to broadcast the game, but they dont anticipate this not happening.

Just like Saints games, no lawn chairs, outside bevs/food, etc.

FYI (not from my BIL) if you want to have your own food/drank in the square, just load up a chest and walk or drive into the parking garage. Stash your chest in your car or near the steps to the square and your set. They dont check ppl entering the square especially if your entering from dome level down the steps.

Great tip. I did hear some more definite news today about the square. They will not be showing the game as the officials are worried about attracting too many people to the area who don't have tickets and it becoming insanely crowded.
