Not sure how much interest or if he is still interested. IMO he stays at louisville

Can't find the original link but to add to the credibility I partially broke the news 2 hours before chris reddman broke it on atl radio of strong to louisville.

Our administration wanted to interview Strong. We called the Louisville AD to ask for permission to speak with him and we were given a polite no. The AD was not cooperating, and I do not think we wanted to hire him without an interview. So, I believe we moved on. I fear we will hire Sumlin, or as some have named him Shermlin. Sherman part two here we come. Crossing me fingers for someone else. I was much higher on Fedora than I am Sumlin

I think Strong is the best hire, even better than Chris Peterson. He was the best assistant out there before he took the Louisville job and has proven he can be a head coach. Sumlin would be a mistake.

What has Sumlin done besides put up a ton of points against terrible defenses to convince you he will be a good HC for a team entering the SEC. He finally faced a good defense in USM and his high powered offense looked awful. His program is located in Houston but he is middle of the road in recruiting in CUSA. What makes you think he is a good hire?

Do not want Sumlin. Complete lateral move from Sherman. Give me a defensive minded guy please. I want Strong, However, that is extremely unlikely at this point

I don't see how strong is that much of a reach. He coaches at Louisville. He is about to get a pay raise from $1.6 million to $2.3 million if he signs the new contract. The largest school in Texas cannot pay the man $2.8 million to go to an SEC school? Dan Mullen is currently getting just under $2.7 million right now. So you are telling me TAMU is less willing to pay top dollar for a good HC than Miss State?

I was asking that question a few days back. A&M still has to deal with the buyouts for Sherman & the Big 12. Strong's deal with UL was for 7 years. The A&M posters were saying that money isn;t an issue.

That said if A&M can find $20 million for Strong, why not just buyout Petrino's contract?

Strong would be a solid hire for A&M BUT Petersen would be an incredible hire.

If fans can see the SEC is a defensive league, do you think other coaches can figure it out? Sumlin would be able to get better athletes at A&M than he can at UH.

That said, I do want to see him do it somewhere else and with out Keenum first. I thought ASU wouldve be a good place for him.
