He tweeted earlier this season that he'd like to be known as TM7, not Honey Badger.

I heard the SVP interview and he was in NO WAY anti-Honey Badger.

Thank you, BHP.

That's what I kinda thought.

That nickname is one of the reasons he is a household name, he or you can not like it all you want, but his popularity is higher b/c of it.

My brother stayed at the Lod Cook hotel a few weeks ago when the team was there. He got Tyrann to sign something for him. Anyway, he asked him and Tyrann said "ya'll are killing me with that honey badger shite".

This. And like it or not, this is one of the most fitting nicknames I've ever heard, plus now everyone in the country knows how awesome he is

by dropping the Honey Badger nicknamke. Now before the first 20 little kids come one here and flame away and tell me to shut up, consider this: He hates the nickname. If you listened to his interview on Scott Van Pelt today he OBVIOUSLY hates the name, but at the same time he's honored enough to not say so. All season long, in fact, he's quietly protested the nickname. So, since he is the first LSU Tiger since 1978 to get invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony I think he's earned the right to shed a nickname he hates. nb4 you call me a pussy nb4 cool story bro

HE HAS SAID HE APPROVES OF THE NICKNAME.

there is no turning back now. he confirmed it 100%, so you can take your bias against the nickname and shove it up your own arse, pussy.

oh and not even a cool story bro. this thread is weak.

I think he didn't like it at first and only liked it because it caught on so much so fast.

It's funny and accurate but doesn't sounds as cool as it is intended to be.

You're an idiot.

At first, Mathieu didn't like the "honey" part. When he saw the video, he was sold.

"I think he's a pretty bad animal," he said with a devilish grin. "It's this little, fearless animal that just goes into fox caves and goes in beehives and just takes what he wants. It's pretty funny. I think that's me to a certain extent. It's amazing how it's caught on. It's pretty much going viral. I'm cool with it. Everybody around here loves it."

His hesitation toward the nickname at first was because he didn't know what a honey badger was or had seen the video.

oh and the least you could do is provide a link.

LINK

and i agree.. you don't get to pick nicknames.. but at least on mo versus she asked him point blank if he was cool with it and he said YES. he didn't have to approve of it at that point.. there was no pressure on him to.. he was cool with it.. so let it go. it isn't changing.

i didn't see anywhere in there that he hated it. he admitted he still enjoys it, but it's also a bit much at times.. and that he just has to stay humble.

far cry from hating it.

No way this gets dropped! Every show on TV refers to him as the Honey Badger when showing his highlights. It's too late... Get over it!

He was asked about his persona and he merely stated that he had to remember to be Honey Badger ON THE FIELD and Tyrann Mathieu when he was OFF THE FIELD.

Probably a good rule of thumb for him, since taking what you want and not giving a sh*t off the field could result in more trouble than it's worth... and possibly charges.

He may very well not like the nickname, and the poster above who juxtaposed the "honey badger on the field" next to "Tyrann Mathieu off the field" is perhaps missing the message between the lines, which is: perhaps he doesn't really like it (otherwise, why qualify to the interviewer when he's cool with being called it and when he's not).

But the cat is out now and roaming in the free world, and there is nothing TM can really do about. He has an opportunity to embrace and enjoy the ride, and I hope he does that. The HB buzz is not only great pub for him, but also his team and school.

Why doesn't he stop his hairstylist from the job he or she is doing that resembles the actual honey badger?

In an EPIC NICKNAME. His parents wear honey badger tshirts to ever game.

Get over it. Women love it. Media loves. Fans love it. Insecure pussies think it's gay because it has the word "honey" instead being called "cobra badger".

Get over it. Let it run it's course.
