Going to your fair city for a long weekend. I'm staying in the french quarter - suggestions on where to eat/what to see are welcomed.

What kind of food are you into?
I definitely suggest making a trip to the WWII museum. it's a great time and you can spend HOURS in there. If you're travelling with family there's something for everybody.

Look at the restaurant guide on this board (LINK - will give you ideas re prices, food types, etc. Otherwise, need more info from you.
Also - for music, go hit the clubs on Frenchman Street. Its right off the edge of the FQ.

Ahh gotcha, well in that case nothing you can do about it. At elast the FQ is close to most everything.
A favorite of mine near the FQ is Mothers. They have excellent food, and I always enjoy going there. You got typical Louisiana dishes and they also have a great selection for breakfast/lunch.
For Seafood I would suggest the gumbo shop or deanie's. Both located in the FQ and decently priced, with the gumbo shop being slightly less expensive. Deanie's in popular with both tourists and locals and is located on Iberville about a block from Bourbon.

In the FQ? not many other options there 
I know many out of towners don't have cars when visiting the city and it limits their mobility.
I'd suggest commander's palace if price and mobility weren't an issue.
eta: GW Fins and Court of two sisters are other good options.

The options are there no doubt, but keep in mind he's here on business so I'm assuming he doesn't have a lot of time to spend on dinner, and I don't know about his price range so I'm giving him places that have good eats at a reasonable price and that won't take long to get to and from. I work at a hotel, and apart from my own opinions I get feedback from several guests on places I send them to. I've never had any complaints. It all depends on how much I know about the guest and what I have to work with.

FQ: Casual: Central Grocery for a muff, Johnny's Poboys, Cafe Du Monde
Nicer places: GW Fins, Iris, Bayona, Stella, K-Pauls, Meauxbar, Mr. B's, Pelican Club, Le Meritage, Arnauds or Antoines for the historical aspect.
WHD: Cochon, Emerils, A mano, La Boca.
The French Quarter is where you want to be as a tourist, don't know what the other poster is talking about. Don't go to Mother's or Court of Two Sisters.

Finley, rather than assuming a lot of things, can you tell us whether you have a price range requirement, casual or more dressy or anything else that might be pertinent to recommendations?

None taken Gris Gris A lot of my suggestions also come from feedback from my guests reviews and for them atmosphere is very important. I live uptown and mostly eat in the garden district/uptown.
But I will say this, after my last visit to gordon biersch I will never ever recommend that place to anyone

If I didn't work 3-11 most days I'd have more of a chance! Thing is, most of my guests are out of towners and don't have TD f&D board standards
