if Okie State and Virginia Tech both lose this weekend, I'm assuming you'd want 2-loss Wisconsin or Michigan State in the title game? Or 3-loss Oklahoma or 3-loss Clemson? They would be the only teams that fit your criteria.

undefeated Houston or 2 loss Oregon, too

But if teams have comparable records, why not go with the highest computer score?

look... the two best no loss teams should square off. in there are no other no loss teams, then you take the next one loss team, who hasnt already been beaten by the no loss team.. this aint rocket science... damnit..

I hate absolutists. they are, as a group, remarkably difficult to communicate with to express complex, even simple, ideas.

The key is that conference titles matter. Now, it's not in the rules that you have to win your conference for exactly the scenario you describe. However, if two teams are of roughly equal quality, you should always take the conference title because they have accomplished more. It's really quite simple. Devaluing conference titles is a bad thing.

However, I'd have no problems if the rules were changed and you had to win your conference. Tough noogies if you weren't good enough to beat the teams in your conference.

Houston would be fine with me! We already bet the PAC 12 and big east champs. LSU has earned a cupcake!

seems like the 2007 tigers were a two loss in NCG winner. and 6-2 in SEC.
If you have a choice between someone who you have beaten vs a new team that you haven't played, i think it best to give the team you haven't played a shot at you rather then left over from the regular season. I enjoyed the bama lsu game but think most of the nation was boored with the low offensive showing.

I can kind of agree with this, but is it really fair for them to have to play against our defense, that seems like more of a punishment.

true, and the offense would run them to death. However.. then no one can say, they were undefeated and didnt get a shot...

In the current formula, conference titles really don't matter. This is why they should make a conference championship part of the formula. You don't get eliminated for not winning, but those who win would get a boost in their BCS score after the polls and computers are averaged. Perhaps the add-on is .05 or .075 or whatever. In that scenario, it wouldn't damage a team so badly that it would cause a much worse team to get in over them, but with two very close teams, the conference championship would matter.
