Heads up for those headed to downtown ATL tomorrow

If you can take Marta from your hotel do it, there is a Road Race in Midtown and a Christmas Parade downtown near Centennial Park in the morning and a lot of streets are going to be blocked off...it's basically going to be a clusterf*ck. It will be hard to get to certain parking lots before noon.
I assume Gameday will be set up at Centennial Park like it was for the LSU/UNC game last year, any one hear differently? They sold booze inside the Gameday barracades.
Looking for cold beer tomorrow? Head into the food court at the CNN center...many of the food vendors sell $5 ice cold tall boys!
Looking forward to my 10 minute ride to the dome from my house!!!

Check out Bell Street Burritos, closest thing to tex mex
https://www.yelp.com/biz/bell-street-burritos-atlanta
Also great food at Ted's Montana Grill (Bison)
on 133 Luckie St NW.
Also close by is a popular sports bar Stats, owned by Tulane grad/local ATL sports radio host/ESPN poker star Steak Shapiro.

I remember the parade from 2007. Definitely was a clusterf*ck.

A story on the happenings:
https://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/frenzied-saturday-for-atlanta-1248668.html
The Christmas Parade from 10:30-Noon will be the biggest mess, it is right NE of the GA DOME and the streets surrounding Centennial Park.
Generally speaking, the race route starts in Piedmont Park (just East of downtown in Midtown), heads south to Freedom Parkway, winds around the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum and returns, ending on Kanuga Street near Monroe Drive.
Race Route:
https://www.walkjogrun.net/routes/current_route.cfm?rid=73895C1F-FAEC-6375-7C3F8B2DF8BAC05F
The Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Children’s Christmas Parade from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Google Map Centennial Park Atlanta to view these streets:
The event steps off on Peachtree Street near Baker Street, heads south to Marietta Street, then turns right on Marietta and ends at Centennial Olympic Park Drive. MARTA said it would reroute bus route Nos. 1, 32, 51, 110, 155 and 186 to accommodate the event.

Thanks for posting. Does not look like it will affect us. We are coming up from the South and will be parking in the Brown lot...which is SE side of the stadium. Hoping we will be good.

Place will be a mad house, 2 hour wait for tables. And not a mexican joint even though the name sounds like it.

DON'T DRIVE in ATL if at all possible. Traffic is a mess here especially on big event weekends.
Go to the ATL Chapter of LSU Alumni (you can Google it) and they always have events and fun stuff planned as well.

always a must is the tall boy beers in the CNN Center -- it's funny cuz they'll sell gyros and sandwiches and then have like 6 or 7 taps for their big arse beers; almost like a subway serving beer (reminds me of NO)
the beer selection is pretty decent too; Sweetwater, Guiness, Bass and the usual Bud and Miller crap

yeah they bark at you like it's Bourbon St, "five dolla Five dolla!" LSU five dolla!

Hey Chicken, I think that there are 2 places that might fit your description in the center too.
Taco Mac and a Mexican joint.
And when you come out, you can grab one of those $5 tall boys that the OP listed.

I took MARTA from the airport to midtown for the first time and it wasn't so bad. For the price it was awesome.

How is it taking the Marta from the airport to downtown? Pretty safe?
Posted on 12/2/11 at 1:39 pm to crownNbull
to me, MARTA is the only way to get to the Georgia Dome....
