Has anybody held or shot one yet? I was pretty much set on getting a ruger m77, but I'm reading lots of good stuff about the m70 and it sure is a fine looking rifle. I would be willing to shell out a few extra bones for a remake of an american legend if it can be expected to perform better than the ruger.

I've pretty much narrowed it down to these two. I want a Mauser action and 3 position safety and I'm not a huge fan of the kimber.

Won one and gave to my daughter - fine piece of artillery. Stacks rounds just fine, but so does my son's M77.
I say go with your druthers as far as your wallet will ride you..

My vote goes to the Win Model 70. I have the Super Grade and love it.

Ok, I'm kinda on the fence with these two. Theres something cool about the Chester, but I don't know anyone that owns one. Ruger makes dayum good quality guns, on the hand.

Not a fan of the Ruger. I would go with the Winchester.

1/2" or better at 100. All 3 shots will be cutting into each other.

Damnit. Now I gotta decide if I wanna fork out the $350 more than the ruger for one. I already have a scope, so I might splurge a little bit.

Both should be fine guns. Not much of a difference, but the Winchester looks to be 4 oz lighter than the Ruger. I'd check into the triggers. Ruger triggers usually are not easily adjusted. The traditional Winchester Model 70 trigger is easily adjusted. OTOH, I'm not sure if that also applies to the new Featherweight's
"M.O.A. Trigger System." The Winchester web site doesn't mention adjustability of the M.O.A. trigger.

Im leaning in more and more toward the Winchester. I guess I'll just have to put my hands on them side by side and see if it feels like its worth the extra coin. Supposedly the new ruger triggers are pretty nice.

I shoot a .243 Ruger M77. Sweet little gun that was given to me in exchange for a lab puppy when I was younger. Shot a doe last weekend. Tasted good tonight.

You might can find one for that. Thats how much they were about 6yrs ago. I think they go for closer to 1200 now. I have the 300 Win Mag. My brother has the featherweight stainless/wood 300WSM and he likes it alot too.

Dude, get the Ruger. Great gun. Killed a deer Sunday with one. Dropped where she stood.
