Why does LSU get no credit in the media for blocking the 3rd FG attempt by Bama?

It amazes me how it is consistently portrayed as "Bama missed 4 FGs".

LSU blocked one of them. That isn't a miss in the sense being proclaimed when the other team outplays you no the play and stops the kick.

Bama logic would state that they did nothing in the UTk game in 2009. UTk missed both those FGs on their own.

I figure they use the same reasoning as they do in not giving the LSU defense credit for making Bama have to attempt such long field goals because they couldn't get closer. I have never been able to figure out why such a Backa$$wards state like Bama gets such kid glove treatment and undeserved admiration from western, midwestern and northern sportswriters. I guess it is just the way it is...

They also don't take into account that they kicks were 40+ yards. And they don't point out that the better coaching move would've been punting and pinning us deep.

Lost conveniently is the fact that they had only one trip inside our RZ and that was to the 17 yard line. While LSU's struggling offense made it into their RZ twice, and once as deep as the 1 yard line.

Duh, the bama kicker accidently kicked it towards the lsu defenders hand. Honest mistake on his part.

But Bama certainly "outplayed" the Tigers. Even though the Bama O and D were both gassed by the end of the 4th.

it's the same reason the D gets no credit (typically) for the forced fumbles but instead we hear about RBs "putting the ball on the ground" or opposing offenses "making mistakes." If you want to go with the typical line, the media hates LSU. I personally believe the D is just so dominant, they haven't mastered the vocabulary yet to effectively discuss it on-camera. Honestly, watching some of those strips in slo-mo replay, I'd like to know, short of shanking the HB, what more a RB or receiver could do to hold onto the ball... Dude seriously takes what he wants.

The same reason that no one in the media points out that Foster has made only 2 of 9 field goals this year, 2 of 5 under 50 yards and 0 of 4 from 50 or more, and that Shelley is 0 of 2 on attempts of 40 or more yards.

Let it go, my friend.

9-6

Sometimes I wish the last play had been the TD, but there's something awesome about having out-FG'ing them.

This. Bama lost because Saban made poor choices.

The sooner you grasp the fact that LSU is not a media darling, the happier you will be.

Also, you do realize there are other programs on TV you can watch besides that stupidity, right?

I would say one of the four "missed" field goals was truly missed-the 44 yarder. The 49-yarder was blocked and the other two were 50+ yards, basically a crap shoot.

Saban was probably justified in attempting the 44 yard kick, although it was still, at best, 50-50. The blocked punt probably had no real chance, even if not blocked because Shelley doesn't apparently have that kind of range. The other two had virtually 0% probability of success since neither kicker has kicked a field goal of more than 46 yards this year on 6 attempts.

the game was about as equal as you get until the slate was clean and a new game started in OT.. in which LSU DOMINATED BAMA.. they shut down their offense with a crucial sack.. and then LSU could have scored a TD on offense if needed. that is the difference in the game.

LSU deserves more credit FOR WHAT THEY DID in the 5th quarter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
