Should that have been a late hit call on Mathieu's runback TD?

I haven't seen anything about it, but after rewinding a few times he was definitely hit about a yard and a half into the end zone.

Yes, it should have been but TM was slowing down so that is why they did not call it.

How many threads do we need about this?

And no. I don't think it should have been flagged. Initial contact started at the goalline.

God forbid if he would have held his arms out before crossing the line though

Should have been , however if you watch the replay an LSU player "accidntally " clobbers the Hog well after the play was over when he was running to congratulate TM, It would have washed.

it was half way into the TD zone.

it was a late hit.

ref was right there. no excuse for it.

15 yards, enforced on the kickoff.

and the horrible thing is, if he had turned back to see if he was safe yet, he could have been called for taunting.

the ref in that play SUCKED.

Geeze! This is the kind of whiney stuff I see when I lurk over on the TideFans.com board. It would have been a ticky-tacky call if it had been made,IMHO.

I believe it the same thing would've happened on a sideline there would have been several flags...

As there should be..

Just compare it to the total bullshite 'roughing the passer' penalty against, I think, Mingo. He was coming full speed and was no more than two steps away from Wilson who was still holding the ball. He is supposed to totally stop of shift his momentum, inertia if you will, and not hit him?

YEAH! Sort of like the one they called on Baker for his hit on their QB!

Just like to see consistency!

It was arguably a late hit. I haven't seen the replay. Where was TM physically when he was hit. I understand why you would still hit someone who was that close to the end zone but you obviously can't do it if he is already in the end zone.

I think TM7 slowed down on purpose so he WOULD get hit! The honey badger LOVES contact! It was like dessert after a great meal....

Yeah, it didn't seem to bother him one bit. It does look as if he almost likes to be hit.

It could have been called, but it wasn't particularly bad. I'm not that upset with it.

Did you see at the end of the shot that the camera moved back towards the right and someone put that #14 on his arse for the hit?

Check out the CBS replay, someone rolled him.
