No more divisions in basketball.

Surely there's no way to do a full SEC round robin, home and away, all teams?!? That's a lot of conference basketball.

I thought that there were still divisions for the regular season but then not for the tournament.

Like this coming season, a team will play 16 games - home and home with the five teams in their division and then three home and three away with the other division.

However, when you get to the tourney, seeds will be overall, so you could potentially have 3 or 4 teams from one division with Thursday byes as opposed to the old way of having the top two east and top two west teams get byes.

Next year could be interesting - would have to go to a 19 game conference schedule with 6+6+7, unless you don't play everyone in the opposite division.

There may not be division standings but aren't teams still going to play each team from their division twice and each team from the other division once?

That's the same way the Big 12 used to do it. We had one conference standing but we played the other Big 12 north teams twice and the Big 12 south teams once. Wasn't always fair but it worked out.

Couldn't the expanded SEC do the same thing. Play each division team home and away and the other division once for a 19 game schedule? 19 games seems like a lot but both the Big 12 and Big East are now playing 18 game schedules so I doubt one more game makes a huge difference.
