After reading this timeline, specifically 2002, no one can feel for Joe or any of the leadership at PSU. LINKTimeline of Sandusky

How the shite does Mike McQueary still have a job? Maybe I'll play Devil's Advocate give you that when Paterno was told it was vague or he didn't have details. But shite, you walk in on that? And you still have a job when Paterno & President are gone????

For all the he accomplished, he cant ever make up for this. In the long run penn state comes out really bad in all this. Maybe not for people around there, This is got to hurt enrollmeny from kids farther away from university park.
All athletics can take a hit from this also.

So true. I think for Penn State to rectify all wrong doing by this dark action amongst the administration is to make a severe example that all colleges can look at and revere. Way too much hero worshiping in sports. Forfeit all games played under the duration of the dirty secrets and let the world know that Penn State will not tolerate such hypocrisy.

This was not an issue with hero worship - this was about a selfish individual who lost his moral compass because he cared only about himself and his wins and his legacy. This is unfortunately everywhere and not just in heroes.
You are right about one thing - Penn State should do something drastic to show the country that it doesn't hold the employment of that one man dearer than the innocence of a child.

Would like to see the NCAA put down the hammer and institute the death penalty on this sordid university.
The primary job of a school is to protect kids. Failing this you can never be trusted again.
Also the board of trustees should be cleaned out as well, i'm sure someone there had some idea of this thing.

The Big 10 is always taking the holier than thou stance in regards to recruiting violations in the SEC. Yet they have have 2 major coaches from the two most sanctimonious schools go down in flames. Maybe they will stop throwing rocks in a glass house.

Difference is everyone in the SEC recruits dirty so no one has leverage. They rat each other out in the big 10

Much as I hate to see any school lose its program, I think you may be correct, sad as this is. I don't know how else you could be sure to clean house without everything going and starting fresh a couple years down the road.

Vacating all wins since 2002 and taking away joepa's record would be pretty drastic as a start. A major housecleaning needs to happen.

This. Good for the BOT for not letting that old goat dictate (sorry about the choice of words) when and how he would go out.

No kidding, the NCAA freaks on people like Shep double dipping rent. If they sit out on this shite they should lose all cred. Talk about lack of institutional control, holy shite.

Good riddance. McQueary needs to go too. I read the grand jury report and it's far worse than even what's in the news.

Anyone saying they feel sorry for Joe Pa has either not read the Grand Jury statement or doesn't understand the ramifications of these actions. If Joe Pa didn't know specifics of what happened in 2002 he should have. If someone reports to me the illegal actions of a close friend who is currently working for me (or recently did work for me not sure of if this was before or after he retired in 2002) on company (in this case university) property I'm going to want specifics. This is any illegal activity. If it is sexual abuse involving adults it is a big deal. If it involves minors - you blow that shite up. Give him a chance to tell his side of the story, but make sure that everything is fully investigated and involve the police. At the very least Joe Pa is guilty of criminal negligence, and IMO should be considered an accomplice b/c I don't believe that you can be that naive. The entire staff should be dismissed - and there are some on that staff that this would be incredibly unfair for but this is about saying this shouldn't be tolerated. Penn State should forfeit the remainder of its season and offer every player an unconditional release. The NCAA can't really penalize Penn St for this as there are no rules on the books about employing a sexual predator, but it can grant an exemption to any player at Penn St that would like to transfer so that they don't have to sit out a season and they should. All of this would have effects on that program far into the future, but the duration and depth of those effects won't even scratch the way the additional boys that were allowed to be assaulted - and to be clear we are talking about forcible rape of 10 year olds - have been affected by the athletic programs unwillingness to take action.

Remember when LSU was in the news this year for the bar fight and suspensions? Many of the "talking heads" commented that something like that would never happen at Penn St on Joe Pa's watch. He enabled those kids to be molested. I really think he is too old and senial to even fully understand what is happening or what DID happen.

I bet the reason he didn't tell the police in 2002 is because this firing would have happened then and not now.....he got an extra 9-10 years of coaching and passed Bobby Bowden.
