Penn State (long, just thought I should pass it along)

I would like to say that they have one of the best fan bases out of conferance that I have ever seen. When we played them in the flood bowl I was with my son, who is in a wheel chair, under the stands before the game started. It was pouring down and we were just hanging out waiting on the game to start. The band bus for Penn State pulled up at the end of the stadium and the members starting getting off the bus and walked in under the stands where we were. I thought to myself, well they are going to make us move. They did not. Instead they just all surounded and us and talked to my son and asked him all kind of questions about football. They were very nice and he enjoyed himself. There fans were very passoinate and very nice. During the third quater he had to go to the restroom. We were sitting in the Penn State endzone. We had to go to their side to the restroom. We walked up to the line that had formed. It was a rather long line mostly band members and Penn fans. We were just waiting our turn and I heard this guy, bandmember, telling everyone to backup.I did not know what he was doing at first, but come to find out he cleared everyone out of the restroom and they sent us to the front of the line. This is not something we asked for nor do we expect special treatment. My son loves the Tigers and all he wants to do is go watch them play.He does not care about hunting, likes to fish a little. He has LSU on his mind 365 days a year. We have been all over the country with him watch them play. These are some very classey people and now they have they have a black cloud over them.I would like to wish them the best.It a very sad situation and I just wanted to let everyone know that they are a great group. It looks like they are going to have a complete overhaul in the staff of the entire admin and coach. It will be devastating to the program but they will be better in the end because of the quality of people that they have supporting their program.

thank you for sharing that. I have four family members who graduated from PSU and they are all talented, successful and very grounded people. I've always had the greatest respect for JOPA and hopefully when all is said and done he can walk away with his head held high. it is a very, very sad day in happy valley.

Awesome story, Horshack. I don't know anyone who has accused Penn State fans in general of being bad people. I used to work with several and while they were passionate they never came across as obnoxious. But this story is unbelievable. Little boys were raped and the Penn State hierarchy, including Paterno, let it continue for years.
Do I fell sorry for Penn State fans? Of course I do. Do I feel sorry for Paterno and the higher ups at Penn State? Hell no. They are scum.

It is amazing the fallout that will come as a result of this... Jerry Sandusky will be responsible for ruining several people's careers, including the nearly half century long reign of Joe Paterno, the lives of countless children, the reputation and standing of a prominent university and a major charity organization, all of the childrens' families, his family, the extended families of all, and probably lots of other things I cant even think of...
What an incredible douche bag.

Yeah, PSU fans are good poeple. It's sad that this thing has to happen to their program and team. I can't imagine if something like that happened at LSU. I'll take a barfight and synthetic weed scandal every year if we can be assured that never happens.
Though the fans don't deserve it, if things are as they seem I'd be fine seeing the program get the death penalty. Having your team and university leaders being complicit with the rape of children is far worse in my book than paying college kids.

you think Les would keep a perv on staff if he got wind of it like JoePa did? No chance
the complacency of the PSU admin is disgusting

Not just no, but it wouldn't have surprised me if somebody would've laid hands on that bitch down here.

The law is different in Louisiana and Florida, probably the states in between as well " any educator, teacher, social worker, doctor anybody who suspects child abuse must themselves report their suspicions to Child Welfare or the Police", there is none of this SUPERVISOR CRAP, Chain of command, what bull shite

Yeah we went to the tsuanami game also in Orlando. The fans were very nice and even when we lost they told us it was a good game. I think you are right in the long run this will be for the best.

no, he is not responsible for the actions, or lack of actions, of the Penn State community who knew about the situation and did nothing.
Joe ruined his own career

Of course not, and I'm not implying Les would do anything like that--just using LSU as a beloved team/program. I'm just saying if you're Joe fan of State U and something horrific happens like this to your program, it would be an awful feeling.
PSU deserves everything they get.

i agree. he may have made only one mistake in a long career but that mistake was absolutely unmistakable. i would fire him and his entire staff and seek charges if possible. all this joe pa love is ridiculous.
