Brad Edwards take on rematch

Excerpt from the insider article on ESPN. In summary, Brad Edwards has this to say:
"To sum it all up: We're an Oklahoma State loss and a Stanford loss away from likely having LSU and Bama ranked No. 1 and No. 2 -- again. That could theoretically happen as soon as next week, if the Ducks take out the Cardinal and Texas Tech surprises the Cowboys."
Thats his two cents and odds of this happening are as good as can be

That's possible.

This is not. Texas Tech is coming off of two blowout loses. One of which was to Iowa State.

I still don't see why Alabama gets a rematch while Oregon is left out while winning their conference.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.

rematch
I just don't see how the winner of the game Saturday would be effectively punished for winning by having to play another game (SEC Championship) against another quality opponent while the loser would just get to win three games to get a rematch. It's one thing if it was a three point LSU win in Baton Rouge, but for Alabama to lose at home and then get a easier road just seem unfair.

Oh I agree. There is no way a team should be able to win a National Championship without winning their conference or even division. The whole scenario is ludicrous to me.

Not gonna happen. Although, I agree it's not fair to LSU for this to happen, the real reason we won't see a rematch is the rest of the country will not want to see an all SEC championship game. The voters will make sure someone else gets in above Bama.

The extra game will probably jump Oregon ahead of Bama in the final rankings.
If this was LSU, the loss wouldn't be bad. 3 point loss and on the road. LSU's SOS would come back in the end to help us out.
If Stanford/OSU lose...please let Boise in. I'd love for us to silence those annoying fricks who think they can stand to a elite team in the SEC.

Prom i'm right with you, plus like people say" its when you lose" Both lost to #1, except Oregon was way earlier. The game was closer than the score ( I know its coming lol)

Even without the extra game, why should they get a do over so that we have to win 2 out of 2 and they get to split to get the crystal ball.

Karma is tough, BAMA will not be in New Orleans on January 9th as a participant.

Conference/division championships are irrelevant. That's not a prerequisite for winning the NCAA basketball tournament. Why should it be for football? LSU's baseball team dudn't win the conference every time they won the College World Series.

Perhaps you missed the part where Baseball and Basketball had a playoff system.

currently that extra game would be a 5-4 UCLA which controls its destiny. Yup they would look world beaters if they whoop up on UCLA, right!!

I think this is the first week he picked the correct #1 spot. He had Bama every other week. He is a Bama alum.... so he is just pimping his school.

This. If you can't be the best team in your conference how can you be the best team in the country?
Besides that Bama lost at home!!! not in Tiger Stadium, or at a neutral site. As for a rematch with Oregon, not gonna happen. Oregon got beaten handily by LSU at a neutral site already this season. I'm rooting for OKState to win out, no controversy and a good game.

We might get a rematch, but it should not happen. Here is why;
College football is great because the regular season matters. When was the last time any body cared about a regular season NCAA basketball game. As imperfect as it is..the regular season IS the playoff, and it makes the games great. Is Bama the second best team? They probably are, but if they get to the NCG against LSU, they will have gotten there losing to LSU at home and not playing an SEC championship game, so they would have had an easier path. At least if you are going to have a losers bracket...make it harder than the winners bracket.
I was on the record before the game as being against a rematch regardless. I stand by it.
