I would have a lot less trouble convincing myself I need a lever action .44 mag then a single shot .44 mag

Anybody have ideas for bullet selection? I'm thinking hard about trading my .25-06 for one.

Just something I found.

A myriad of loads from many ammo manufacturers suit the .44 Magnum for any big-game hunting. A 240-grain bullet at about 1,180 fps is standard. Hornady advertises a 240 JHP at 1,350 and a 300 JHP at 1,150--as well as a 200-grain JHP at 1,500. Perhaps the best load for hunting is the Hornady 225 FlexTip bullet at 1,410 fps. At 100 yards it still clocks over 1,100.

I have been interested in the 38-55 for a while.
They made a Buffalo Classic in that for a very limited time, but I've never seen one. They also make a replica Sharps in 38-55. Its scaled down just a bit smaller then 45-70.
