All that we know is that something went wrong - Neither the LSU AD nor the Head Coach has said anything to the fans or the media.

I know that fans suspect something and will wonder and discuss about the suspension but why should the following be allowed, especially since it is presuming a lot while

-accusing a player
-deriding the coaches
-insulting the whole program.

We don't know the actual reasons since it was never made public yet there is rampant acceptance of the rumors leading to

1. Whether it was synthetic ganja or natural.
2. First failed test or 5th failed test.
3. Making the assumption that all of them were caught smoking weed
4. Assuming that all of them failed the same test

We don't know if there was any fricking drug test at all!

If a player(s) was given a suspension you assume, rightly so, that something was not satisfactory and that he is paying the price for it by being reprimanded and not being allowed to play a game.

What gives people the presumptuous arrogance that they have the right to examine and judge a teenager's personal life.

The coach is there to do that at school and his parents are there to do it at home. The day they put out a public cry for help - you can climb back up on your high horses and give them a piece of your mind - till then talk about the other 100 who are going to play a game on Saturday.

Well said. This was the whole deal with Jefferson and Shepard as well. Let's quit this.

If it weren't for rumor threads TD would cease to exist. Theres a difference between libel and rumors.

The engine of this site is rumors (just like this one) like it or not.

Agreed 100% CalTiger.

Half the asshats on this board and a good majority of the local and national news media deserve to have their asses handed to them for spreading lies and character defamation.

When 100,000 people live, every week, and millions via television, radio and internet, focus nearly 100% of their attention for 3 months out of the year to a football team comprised of young men 18-23 - anything like this is going to be scrutinized.

The board admins here do a good job of balancing freedom of expression, with pure rumor-mongering. MANY threads were whacked until more reputable sources picked it up. Pardon the expression, but there is definitely smoke to this fire. What are we supposed to do -NOT talk about it on game week? Not talk about it in the 2 weeks prior to the Bama game?

You are aware this is a college (primarily football) sports message board? This isn't news to you, right Cal?

Now that's correct. I have been pumping the brakes on that one - we really have no idea - the reporting says "violation of drug policy", but it hasn't been confirmed and may never. Right now - we should remain in the speculation stage and not convict these kids of something they may not have done. Could be curfew, could be academic (though it would have to be very limited to avoid NCAA involvement), could be Twitter (how likely is that), but - there could be other things we're not thinking about.

However - if it were not drugs - someone from the university or Les could say, "This is not drug-related, or there is no indication it is at this time." See? Easy and it doesn't violate anybody's privacy rights. The silence is deafening.

Also correct - the more we delve into these topics, the more we're just talking out of our collective arses - that is a fair critique as well.

quote:

-accusing a player
-deriding the coaches
-insulting the whole program.

Also fair - we all need to continue to pump the brakes and allow the system some time and space in which to operate.

What a crock! I am all for allowing random posters having rumor threads whacked. Good policy.

But are you seriously suggesting that this message board should not allow links to and comments to published reports by every sports media outlet in the nation?

Protection from unsubstantiated rumor is one thing. A collective let's put our head in sand and pretend it's not real is another.

These suspensions have been reported, even Miles spoke of internal discipline matter so did Bonnette. If you don't think that someone in the football program (player, trainer, someone in SID office) is the source for the specIfic reason of the suspensions, you live in some fantasy land.

Multiple sources are reporting. The one person you DON'T want to listen to is Les Miles. He's not going to tell you anything.
