Frank Wilson a HC possibility at Tulane?
For the millionth time, it wasn't Sandy Barbour's decision to hire Scelfo she was forced into it by others. She wanted to keep Rich Rod. At Tulane, the AD doesn't make decisions and with Cowen in charge I don't expect a good hire to occur. He couldn't kill athletics in 93 the way he wanted, so he's letting it die a slow miserable death.
Sorry, didn't know that.
But then again, not too up on Onelane athledemics.

Not a chance...
It is better to be a junior officer in a special ops unit than it is to be the commanding officer of a cub scout troop

No problem Metry, just that topic got beat to death so much in the past and now it will come up again. Sandy got the heat but it was a decision made by "money people" who forced the Scelfo hire. I doubt Rich Rod would have stayed very long but he would have kept the momentum he and Tommy Boy started.

Also, anyone who thinks LSU is going to lose recruits to Tulane, regardless of who the coach is, has lost his mind.
If you don't think Frank Wilson has the loyalty of the entire city of New Orleans HS Football over LSU, you have lost YOUR mind.

Tulane needs to do the honorable thing, and drop down to Div III, build the kiddie stadium on campus and they might have people back in the stands after a few years of actually winning football games, then slowly rebuild a program.
then, per NCAA rules, New Orleans could not host the Sugar Bowl or March Madness, but i'm sure you already knew that

Sure he does, but big time players dont want to play in front of 3000 people in the Dome where they lose to Troy.
He may be very convincing....but he aint that convincing. The biggest problem with him leaving wouldnt be losing guys to Tulane, its that more of those guys would leave to go elsewhere.

I like Frank Wilson, but the list of successful head coaches that started out as "ace recruiter" contains about zero names.
Urban Meyer was considered an ace recruiter when he was an assistant.

wait, what??
are you saying there's a rule in place that a city needs a D-1 college team in order to host the sugar bowl or march madness?
like the march madness that's in indy like every 4 years?
i don't think i understand.

Only guy to make it out of there alive as a HC was Tommy Bowden, and we all knew RichRod was the brains behind that operation.
Uh...Mack Brown.

Rouge, what is the rule and I wondering how it can be subverted. Is it the town or stadium? I know there are bowl games at Ford Field and Jerryworld and the Georgia Dome which are not used as fields for any college teams with the exception of once a year games.

Why would anyone want to be the head coach at Tulane?
Posted on 10/18/11 at 9:43 am to Bubba Hotep
Wilson can do better than that.
If I'm Wilson I hold out for a coordinator position at a bigger school than if successful with that you can name your school.
LSU won't keep Wilson forever unless he gets a coord gig somewhere down the line

yeah i'm really curious, this isn't the NFL. but i just could be oblivious to the rule. no one plays home games where the cardinals play in zona either.
