Both QBs are playing better than expected

Les has handled the QB situation perfect so far.

JJ sure was productive when he came in; however, I still have big time concerns if he has to throw the ball (i.e., if Lee goes down with an injury). He still pulls the ball down and runs after the first receiver is covered.

Well, we just heard that JJ was so much better at this over the summer, so I'm just surprised he isn't any better at going through his progressions. With Lee playing so well, he doesn't need to be a great passer. As long as we produce wins, I don't care about any of this QB stuff any more.

IMO last year was purely a product of Les never changing starting qbs midseason. Lee got increasing amounts of playing time (albeit with JJ runs in redzone) until Lee got nicked in the Auburn game. JJ started clicking after that. Had lee not gotten nicked up his time woulda stayed the same or increased.

You're talking about his performance versus a tired out Tenn defense with no morale. The first half of that game had many people scratching their heads at Les Miles decision to put JJ in the game with the terrible results he was getting. There are two halfs to a football game, and all i can say is that JJ played better than I expected during 1 drive and about as expected for the rest of the game.

Look at the drive summaries and stats. Then go look in the mirror and try to convince yourself that you are important.

JJ is one dimensional. Do you remember last year and opposing defenses with 9 in the box? LSU offense ranked 112 in nation?
JJ only plays as he has photos of Les. Certainly can't help Lee's psyche.

Crowton's offensive system requires a running QB. Really not much of a choice as long as we were seeing the Crowton playbook.

Many times, LSU coach Les Miles has left himself open to be questioned.

Here he goes again.

Miles, as unorthodox as any in his field, again has left himself opened to be criticized.


Jarrett Lee has become the passing QB in LSU's offense.
Or is it lauded?

In three weeks, when the Tigers collide with Alabama in the most anticipated game of the season, Miles may well be hailed as an eccentric genius who seemingly always beats the odds.

Then again, he could be second-guessed for needlessly screwing up a good thing.

Seriously, why go with two quarterbacks when the Tigers were playing so well with one?

It's a good question. Yet in a 38-7 pile-driving of overmatched Tennessee on Saturday at Neyland Stadium, Miles juggled quarterbacks Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson like a sideshow performer.

"I like using both quarterbacks," Miles said in a postgame interview room. "I think that's what's best. That's what we need to do. We'll continue to do that.

"I have a want for both guys to be successful and for our team to be successful."

LSU has been amazingly successful with Lee at the helm. Starting with a season-opening victory over Oregon, the unbeaten Tigers have rolled to impressive win after impressive win and are a leading contender for the national championship.

Lee has thrown 10 touchdown passes and only one interception. The Tigers have had 48 consecutive possessions without a turnover and have scored at least 35 points in six of their seven games.
