I think we get caught up in the 4.4 guy and lose sight of what is important. Wayne was a 4.6 guy at best but was not really looked at until junior year . Quinn kid might be tight end by time he finishes growing.

he's only a sophomore, so contact is limited

he's likely going baseball, so i guess that will keep some teams away

i don't really know the quinn kid, but he's a baller

I think there is a rule about having to be a junior, right?

No rule about offers to sophomores but they're all verbal anyway so they don't mean alot unless the staff allows them to commit. We offered Leonard Fournette as a freshman. Most of the reason this kid doesn't have offers yet is likely because coaches just want to evaluate him more.Production in hs doesn't always mean the kid is a college prospect.By all accounts everyone seems to think this kid will be a college player if he wants to be but coaches want to see how he develops I would guess.Just a thought as I don't know the real reason.

Good points. I don't think he is going to get a whole lot bigger. He is already over 6 ft and around 190 lbs. If he keeps improving like he has been his recruitment is going to be very interesting. He looks bigger/faster/stronger than last year!

Agree with the comment about high school production. I think the difference with him is that nobody can question the competition he has faced. It is pretty stout.

I dont think you can give written offers to soph, only verbal

He prefers football and not sure if he will be a big signing bonus guy but once again he is only a sophmore

I am confused now! Some say MLB draft, some say football. I say let's offer in both and let HIM decide!

LSUtool,I think you misunderstood or I was not clear but that is what I was trying to explain. The coaches can offer anyone they want at any time but aside from seniors they are all verbal and mean nothing unless the coaches are willing to accept their commitment.Written offers are now sent out in August before the kids sr. Year. That means that 18 of our current commits commited before they "officially" had offers. So much for the reasoning behind that rule.Anyway thanks for making what I was trying to relay clear.

Desean, his dad, Trey Quinn and other Barbe players were at the game yesterday. Desean will be a Tiger. High character kid...very polite, respectful and takes care of business in the classroom. He'll bring skills/talent to the field and character/work ethic to the locker room.

That is great news! Hopefully the Tigers will get them both and let them continue their 1-2 punch!

Did Smith and Fontenot play this week? Someone posted on nola.com that they were out for the season.

Smith probablt didn't play as he was not in the boxscore with any catches. Fontenot dressed but did not play. I heard Fontenot has a broken toe, unsure when he will be back, prob out a few weeks at least. They were playing Sam Houston so they weren't needed. I doubt is Smith is out for the season as I probably would have heard this yesterday.

The way that it was presented to me by one of their teammates's dad is that DeSean has a shoulder injury and Fonteont's toe is broken. They are likely to miss the next two games also. Look for Quinn to take some center snaps.

I saw something happen to Smith on their next to last offensive snap against Carencro. In fact it looked like he was going to have to come out and Barbe called a timeout and they worked on his shoulder so this makes sense. And I heard Quinn took quite a few snaps Friday night. We get them this Friday so we will see if Smith plays. With or without Smith and/or Fontenot we will have our hands full, they still have quite a few athletes on the field w/o those two.
