re: Your favorite quote about LSU Football?

"If this were golf, we'd advise Florida to concede the putt and move on to the next hole. But if it were golf, LSU wouldn't allow that. The Bayou Bengals would grab your driver, wrap it around your snout, bludgeon you with a 9-iron, steal your ball and use it to make their own hole-in-one."

quote:
LSU fans are great at many things. They're great at arriving early and staying late. They're great at big cast iron pots of jambalaya and plastic cups of Jim Beam. But there is nothing they do better at Tiger Stadium than hate. It's a blistering river hate. A gothic hate, the kind that is reserved only for microwave gumbo, for yankees that confuse creole with cajun, for villians like FEMA, BP, and Nick Saban.
Hate this strong can only be born out of love. Just as there is nothing worse than being hated in Louisiana, there is also nothing greater than being loved here, and if you love them back, they will love you unconditionally. Heisman Trophy winner Billy Cannon went to prison and is still an icon. When Saban came back to Tiger Stadium with the Dolphins, they showered him with cheers. But if you betray them, if you go to Alabama, if you make them feel silly for loving so much, well, then may God and Mike the Tiger have mercy on your soul
I had never seen that. I teared up a little bit. It's so true.
Fellas, enjoy this season while it lasts....these things are cyclical, and rare.

A shame TS isn't like this today

Not my favorite, but one that hasn't been said yet.

This one's not so much about football directly, but I guess it normally relates to it. Once in Rolling Stone Magazine, they ranked the top party schools in America and LSU wasn't on the list. There was an asterisk next to the school ranked number one (can't remember who that was). When you looked below at the asterisk note, it said, "Don't worry LSU fans. We don't rank the professionals with the amateurs."

From LSU Football Vault by Herb Vincent:
Tiger Rag headline Nov. 1982:
LSU 20 ALABAMA 10
I BELIEVE!
"Nov. 6, 1982, No. 8 Alabama had beaten LSU 11 straight times when the No. 11 Tigers arrived at Legion Field in Birmingham. Tiger QB Alan Risher played flawlessly while the defense played near-perfect football for a half, holding the vaunted Crimson Tide to zero first downs before intermission. LSU's Dalton Hilliard rushed for one TD and Malcolm Scott hauled in a Risher pass for the other in ALABAMA COACH PAUL "BEAR" BRYANT'S LAST GAME AGAINST THE TIGERS."
(Heisman nominee and LSU great, Jerry Stovall, was the LSU coach for that historic game!)
We got Dalton's nephew, Kenny Hilliard, along with another outstanding Tiger team for this historic Alabama game...let's do it again, Tigers! I BELIEVE! (Maybe it will be Nick Saban's last, too!)

I'm sure it's been said, but:
ESPN's Jim Caple
quote:
"There is a 25-yard-long sign that reads, "Welcome to Death Valley'' mounted below the pressbox. Those are the little touches at which LSU excels. Most schools wouldn't even put up such a name. Others would just say, "Death Valley" and leave it at that. But not LSU. Here, it's "Welcome to Death Valley." That's beautiful. It's like descending into Hell and finding a sign that reads, "Satan Invites You to Enjoy Eternal Damnation."
