Based on discussions with the SEC, WVU approached the Big East and began talks geared towards leaving the conference and buying out the 27-month waiting period

They'd have to buy out the 27 months or else they'd have no chance. The 27 month waiting period is the best thing the Big East has going for it.

I hoping the link comes up again so I can read what the blogger has to say and if he as sources/links to back his story.

And wasn't the buyout for ACC teams WVU's saving grace since WVU "didn't have a buyout"?

It's only $5 Million and it's already paid for when needed.

Our buyout is a paltry $5 million I believe.

I am a little surprised the Big East teams are constrained by the wait period... mostly because if they lose Syracuse and Pitt this year they will drop below 8 teams in the conference (and I think you need a minimum of 8 teams in your conference to retain the automatic BCS qualifier)

I know TCU was headed to the Big East before all this ruckus got going - have I forgotten another program they were going to add (to stay above the 8 team threshold)?

While West Virginia fans continue to circulate rumors regarding a possible move to the SEC, head coach Dana Holgorsen dropped some strongly worded comments to the Mountaineer fans this week - particularly criticizing the lack of commitment and attendance.

The announced attendance for the Mountaineers' matchup against Bowling Green was 46,603, well below the 60,000+ capacity. Holgorsen expressed his displeasure with the fan base for the poor showing. The weather was less than favorable on Saturday in Morgantown, but Holgorsen said the climate should be no excuse for that kind of turn out.

Possible if the SEC is going 16 - very possible IMO

They would need to be at 8 teams by the next round AQ voting(or whatever you want to call it), the discussion does not come up every year and I think they are 3 or 4 years from the next time that conversation comes up

I will be really disappointed if the SEC jumps to 16.

Let me get used to 14 first before jumping to 16.

A 33% increase in teams would really water down the league IMO.
