Should LSU hire Mike Leach to improve our wide receivers?

As unpredictable as Texas Tech was in the Mike Leach days, his wide receivers caught damn near every ball thrown at them. There was a segment (circa Michael Crabtree) on SportsCenter about Mike Leach bringing in a tennis ball machine and FORCING his receivers to catch high-speed balls shot out from that machine.
Billy Gonzales -- are you listening???
Per the NY Times in 2005: "To prepare his receivers' ankles and knees.... Leach has installed a 40-yard-long sand pit on his practice field; slogging through the sand, he says, strengthens the receivers' joints. And when they finish sprinting, they move to Leach's tennis-ball bazookas. A year of catching tiny fuzzy balls fired at their chests at 60 m.p.h. has turned many young men who got to Texas Tech with hands of stone into glue-fingered receivers."
...and yes I know, this was discussed on TD a long while ago.

Do we have a shed large enough to hold all our WRs?

Craig James' kid was a 4th string pussy who didn't see the field cause he sucked. Who knows what truly happened with that. AWESOME comment though!! Love it!

FYI,
Sonny Dykes was his WR coach/Co-OC for his final stint at T Tech. He seems to be choking at La Tech. Does La Tech pay their HC better than we would a position coach?
Some guys aren't cut out to be a HC. If Sonny is one of them, should he be on the short list? His past resume says yes.

Billy Gonzales has to go. Everything about their play has been way sub-par. They can't catch, routes are sloppy, they block with very little aggression, and they cant be trusted against tight one-on-one coverage. That last part is something that Leach's offenses ALWAYS counted on, from all of their receivers (not just their #1). If a QB sees one-on-one, he was instructed to throw it that way (usually to the back shoulder, depending on where the DB was shading). And it seems like every one of our offensive snaps, we have at least one receiver that has one-on-one, and it's a wasted opportunity. Our opponents know our receivers are weak in that part of the game. Pisses me off.

There have to be at least 30 college programs that have their receivers catching tennis balls from a machine. It's not anything unusual. And while it seems like a good idea, Leach won't accept a post as a position coach. Some desperate program will hire him as a head coach as soon as his lawsuit has run its course.

Mike Leach got the table scraps for recruits behind Texas and TAMU and he did well jn Lubbock. Imagine what he could do as our receivers coach! But you are right, he will hold out for a HC job.

I'm ready for Gonzales to go, but I cringe everytime I see Leach mentioned in the same sentence as LSU. I suppose if all you know about Leach is his HC tenure at TT, he looks great. Fact is, he was a great fit for them as head coach, and I think he was royally screwed there. But the dude is a friggin nutcase. He's a weird MFer. I listen to him (as much as I can take it) every day on Sirius/XM with Arute, and I swear, I think he has more than Cuban tobacco in those cigars.
If anything, he's gonna take an HC job as close to Key West as possible. He isn't going to take a OC job, and he damn sure isn't taking a WR coach job.

Hold on just a goddam minute. Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that we have the youngest wr corps in the country? It was sheppards 1st game back, other than randell there all true frosh or redshift frosh. The guy was with urban meyer for 12 years don't tell me he can't coach. Our wrs are young that's it, and a lot of the passes are far from well thrown. The ball he threw to sheppard was uncatchable but he went up and got it. Give these young guys some time.

How about having a QB that steps into his throws so the ball won't sail?

ML would be a great addition to the staff in any capacity, OC, WR, QB, but this man is a HC. He'll be back.

We do n0t need another "coach", but how about bringing someone similar to/or Jerry Rice to do a how-to clinic with them.

all we need is a tennis ball cannon and shoot it at the receivers

I believe RR and OBJ are playing well. The TEs need to spend a little more time catching passes though. Sheppard is still trying to find his way. One suggestion for the coaches is to move OBJ into the slot on 3rd and long situations.

I wont go so far as saying Billy G. needs to be fired, but I certainly do agree that our receivers leave alot to be desired(at times).... I remember games last year when dropped balls could have made a big differ..(Auburn..) Something needs to give, you know we have the talent...
