Just curious, i know a lot of them consider Oklahoma the bigger rival.

I'm sure most would rather have it than not. However, OU is the real rivalry they care about as you mentioned.

I've got a feeling that deep down, Texas fans are extremely envious of Texas A&M right now. I also think that they are panicking deep down. Now, they will never admit it, but think about it for a bit...

Texas A&M is joining the most powerful football conference out there. Win or lose, they will be playing the likes of LSU, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, South Carolina, Arkansas week in and week out. It's exciting going on the road to these places and it's exciting having these top ranked teams coming into your house. The atmosphere will CONSTANTLY be off the charts. The media will be referencing it all throughout the upcoming seasons. Kyle Field will be more alive than ever. Recruits will definitely notice this.

Now, look at Texas. They'll go Independent, Pac-12, ACC, or stay in the Big XII-3. It's a lose lose situation for them no matter what. Aside from Oklahoma (Big XII-3), Southern Cal and Oregon (Pac-12), and Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Clemson (ACC), it will be a snooze fest. Oh golly gee, we've got Washington State coming in this week, followed by those pesky Utes. Then, we go to that hell den in Berkely to face the Cal Golden Bears. What will we ever do?

I think Texas fans don't want to keep the Texas A&M series. They would like to show that, "we are done with you/looking past you attitude." Deep down, Texas A&M will be looking back behind their shoulder and snickering at Texas as they past on right by them.

I'm not going to sit here and defend Texas but Texas will always be the bigger, more prestigious program compared to A&M, overall. Texas's problem is the LHN and not wanting equal revenue sharing.

I fricking hate it, superconferences can kiss my arse. But yeah i agree this will be a boon for TAMU even though they'll definitely get reamed their first few seasons.

When FUTEXAS is winning, Oklahoma is their "rival." When FUTEXAS is losing, aTm is more of a rival.

Keep in mind that Bevo lacks nuts which will help understand this.

Yeah their series with TAMU is actually pretty even over the past 30 or so years, but they like to look down on the Aggots b/c aTm has no national profile and beating Texas is like winning the SB for them.

I work with a few horns. To a man they are not happy with what has transpired over the las few months. They have slowly realized their administration has backed them into a corner. I was just just talking with one today and his rap was laughable. He wants tu to go to the pac12 because they will be the dominant school. This is the problem with their thinking. They are way too worried about being the big dog instead of being in a good, strong conference.

I know it won't happen but can you imagine if tu and ou would come to the sec? Forget every other conference. The sec title game would be the national championship.

longhorns barely notice the aggies

aggies are obsessed with the 'horns

Legislators and business leaders will have more to say about whether the series continues than the boosters

That's why i was surprised their fans were so happy about going to the SEC, i guess they'll just relish leaving the Horns in the Big 9.

With the horns in this new Big 12 what home game is going to be a big thing to go to? Maybe Oklahoma State every other year. No Ou at home because it's a neutral site. It really goes down the drain if Mizzou leaves. Have they made a deal with Notre Dame I remember hearing something about that but can't remember.

why can't college football have the Texas Conference?

1- Texas
2- Texas Tech
3- Texas A&M
4- Baylor
5- TCU
6- SMU
7- Houston
8- Rice
9- UTEP
and for the final 3 spots just let Sam Houston, Stephen F Austin, UTSA, and Lamar duke it out

had to edit this because how could i ever forget the Mean Green of North Texas?! well if this is the case = 14 schools = a super conference!

Most internet fans want the series to end (me included). But fans you meet on the street or at the games are a little more down the middle, seems for everyone I met last week that wanted it ended there was another who said "no way".

Ding ding ding. Sen. Tommy Williams and Rep. John Otto are already planning to sponsor a bill at the beginning of the 83rd legislative session to put it in law that they HAVE to play.

I don't think fans of either school want the game to end. Emotions are just high right now and Internet bravado as always is given too much weight. True, the OU game is a bigger deal but it is a very different rivalry than UT - a&m.

Like other big in state rivalries most families have fans and alumni of each school and they are too close geographically and within the football "fabric" of Texas not to eventually play every year. There may be a simmering down period though.

If A&M wins this year, I doubt Texas will end the series knowing that A&M won the last 2 meetings.

If you are an elite high school player in Texas, do you want to go to go to A&M and play the best SEC team in October or go to Texas and play the best SEC team in January when it matters most?

As a completely neutral bystander who works with A&M and mostly UT alums, UT people just rag on A&M with reckless abandon. I think the other poster said it right, when UT is good/decent, they kind of just brush A&M aside, but when they're mediocre, they definitely care.
