Good Read
Purely Speculative, but some of these national writers have the SEC swinging for the fences.

I wouldn't even waste my time talking to Texas and OU (aka The Odd Couple). I would talk to Notre Dame but I wouldn't expect much from it.
I agree that VT is the logical choice.

VT makes the most sense, but they cashed in A LOT of markers just to get in the ACC. Will that be a dealbreaker for them?

I wouldnt mind seeing NC State as the 14th team if we cant get VT. They are kinda middle of the road in sports in the ACC, but they are a major state university with athletic potential in a new market. If they want to outshine the other 3 NC schools in the ACC, this may be their only chance.

Heck, swing for the fences. go 16. Invite Mizzou to the West then VT and NC St to the East. You add 4 new states with over 41 million people (25 in TX alone) to the already 59 million in the current SEC states. NC and VA are larger than every SEC state except for FL and GA.

I really like the Mizzou-Va. Tech-NC State lineup. Make this happen:

That map looks great! On top of it. my earlier math was wrong on the populations. The SEC would basically double. About 51 million in the current SEC states. Adding those 4 new teams would add over 49 million!

I would take Virginia Tech. Cut a deal with the big ten. Have the big ten take Maryland to weaken the ACC and then wait for the any two of these: NC State, Ga Tech, Clemson, or Florida State to join the SEC for 16.

If given a choice between WVU and VaTech, give me Tech ALL DAY LONG.
I know there are some good apples at WVU, but from what I read about WVU this past weekend....DO NOT WANT.
Va Tech fans, however, I remember being very gracious and nice visitors to LSU. Would rather them any day. Even over Mizzou.

I'd rather FL St and Va Tech over NC State

Cue the wacko poster (j-something don't remember the name) that swears this is IMPOSSIBLE and will fight you if you disagree.
Say it again slowly. It is possible that the SEC takes an ACC team whether or not there is a 20 mill buyout.

Horrible article. All these folks assuming that 16 is inevitable, much less desirable in the short term, are just lunatics. The only way the SEC should consider going to 16 is if UNC, Duke, and NC State presented themselves as a take it or leave it package deal. That's not going to happen.
Virginia Tech would be my first choice, but I don't think they will come unless the Big Ten destabilizes the ACC by taking Maryland (with or without Virgina in tow--I know that would be a really enticing package for the Big Ten). So, that leaves us with the two other football oriented schools in the ACC (FSU and Clemson), or West Virginia, if an Eastern team is required, or Missouri, if we can be flexible and take a western team (but perhaps put them in the SEC "East" with the SEC's other northern teams). Out of those four, I would go FSU, Missouri, Clemson, West Virginia, and I'm really not sure I'd feel necessary to make a move right now for any of those four, except perhaps for FSU.
