Both A&M and UT are huge in Houston and DFW which is about all that matters.

There was a map with populations in each state.. We have a huge "former student" population.
200k in texas alone.
"Nevertheless, it ought to provide us with some insight. The S.E.C.’s interest in Texas A&M becomes easier to understand once you recognize that the Aggies have among the largest fan bases in the country."
very good article

That article is pretty much crap. It is a nice data point, but if you are using it to valaidate anything you are way out of line. If you read the methodology they essentially admit the data is skewed due to it relied on fans voting and can be manipulated by teams that have a large internet folowing (such as A&M and Ark St.). It then goes to further state that less than 10,000 votes where cast and the projected numbers are based off of an formula instead of a tested validated regression model.
Basicly it means that it is fun to look at until someone actually knows what the numbers mean..
As far as what A&M gives the SEC, no one is really sure. A&M should provide some part of the DFW and Houston market, but they defiantely do not deliver the dominant share in either. The combination of LSU and A&M should give the SEC Houston, but so far there is no real proof either way.

Every city in Tejas has its share of ags. It's not really a North, South, East, West thing.

this. the person saying that houston and dallas are all that matters is uninformed about texas. sure, they are huge metroplexes but texas has a lot of small to mid size towns and cities that add up to a lot of tv sets. a&m has more of a rural type following than texas; some real rural but a lot of mid size towns.

I hadn't thought about that, but we probably bring far more TV sets now than we would have 15 or even 10 years ago due to the growth and stratification of satelite providers.
Many of the small to midsize towns only have access to one local station (except in parts of deep East Texas where they also get Shreveport TV) so we were effectively blacked out in those markets for years despite having fanbases there.
Today, if we have to do a media buy in a rural area, it's almost mind-numbing how many providers we have to sort out.
I have no idea how many sets that adds, but I'm sure the smart guys with the big bucks know how to factor that in.

Flamboyant gays, emos/hipsters, rhinestone cowboys, HS dropouts and Baylor alumni are Longhorns.
The rest are Ags

So does that mean the sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wasteoids, dweebies, dickheads and non-flamboyant gays are all Ags?

Has to hurt a program to lose all of their alumni to a rival.

I wear boots, too-tight jeans, and button down plaid shirts, thank you very much.

Umm... this crappy map is based off the crappy study mentioned earlier in this thread..
You should know by now to never trust anything that is based off of a non-systemeatic study that has exactly zero scentific backing..
Pretty much worthless... It is pretty to look at though.

To any Aggie fans: Is San Antonio also consider Aggie territory?

I've read a few posts about this, but actually Houston is #4, San Antonio is #7 and Dallas is #9. Wonder why S.A. always gets left out??
