Why should we (we should!) respect WVU?

Let the rantards take notice - WVU deserves our respect! Actually they are one of the very few teams outside the SEC not in the top 10 that has earned their respectful top-tier place in the last decade of college football. Maybe not nearly as prominent as LSU but they are hanging around into 4th qtr in most games they play as well - that they don't win. Very similar to LSU in philosophy and "how to" win football games.
If memory serves me correctly they were a key component/losing-winning ingredient to our making it to the "ship" in 2007. Thank God for them having no experienced/talented backup QB that fateful football day in their stadium! Pitt was one of our favorite college football games during that awesome football Saturday and night. Bro Red and I were in H-town watching football games and BELIEVING in a miracle! What a cool feeling. Almost wanted to take a flight to Vegas!
Back to the future.... Last season they only lost to the Tigers by a TD. No matter how badly both teams looked offensively the facts are the facts. Their defense was accountable. They will be on Sat. night as well I would imagine. EVERY kid on the field will be trying to prove his legacy - no matter which team you pull for. The bright lights shine on us all eventually! I expect LSU to win but it will NOT be easy or a blowout. Possibly by mid 4th qtr the game will be decided but NOT any sooner. I hope I am not delusional on our chances of dominating this football game but I wouldn't mind being wrong every now and then......
LSU would be wise to not trip over their well-deserved press clippings and accolades. Each game this season will feel like a national championship-type of game - more or less. LSU is that good - so far. However, the season has just begun. Let it happen one game at a time ..... Geaux Tigers!

Thats all we want. Just a little respect. R-E-S-P-E-C-T
top 14 wins all time. 2 BCS wins and 60 wins in the last 6 years. We're not scared. LSU is a very good team, and I predict them to win... but we're not LA Tech.

No it's not, if you got respect it would change you, same goes for LSU. And for that reason LSU should respect WVU.
Our fan bases are remarkably similar and that's why this is a great H & H.

You people must think that all the trash talking that goes on in message boards plays into the games themselves.
You really think LSU (the actual football team/coaching staff) is looking past WVU at Kentucky? This is one of the bigger games on the schedule vs a ranked opponent in a hostile environment. They should be taken seriously, as I'm certain they are. That said, LSU is a superior football team and SHOULD win by 2 scores.

Only someone who doesn't appreciate the emotion of college football would be looking past WVU. This is a huge game for the Mountaineers and that stadium will be rocking Saturday night.

Really?
Crap! I didn't do my sprints today.
I'll get to them after work today, okay?
No, seriously. I'll get to them. Forty sprints . . . around 40. Maybe 20.
Maybe I'll have some cookie dough ice cream first.

Respect is earned, not given.
That said, WVU has a solid program and the Tigers can't look past them.

If LSU doesn't have respect for WVU, then LSU isn't ready to take the next step.
Being confident is one thing- but showing a lack of respect to a top 15 opponent AT THEIR HOME STADIUM is just plain dumb.
I actually believe we do respect WVU- there's no reason not to. They gave LSU all they wanted last season. I wouldn't call a 6 pt win a "rout", exactly....

I think we should show respect for WVU because they are our opponent.
All opponents deserve our respect, because that's what the best competitors do. They take every opportunity to compete seriously.
But in particular, I like WVU. They have great fans and they're kind of weird. Bigtime points on the entertainment scale for an opposing fan base.
Their team is solid year after year. No reason not to like WVU.

I realize it's cliche but I think it often times deserves to be repeated.
None of us...fans that is...are suiting up and playing the game. I don't have to respect jackshit. I also don't have to be focused. I'm just a fan. I sit in the stands, I make noise when we're on D and I cheer when we make big plays. That about ends my involvement.
I'd be happy if the players do, and I'm sure they do.
Me...eh.

Bro Red;
Have fun fishing. For the rantards out there I did take into account that maybe some LSU players read this forum from time-to-time. Just saying?

You beat us by less than a TD in your house last year.....not sure how that doesn't earn some respect.
