Given his relative success in his first two NFL starts which have somewhat quieted his critics, I have a question for those who thought that he would suck, etc in the NFL:

If Newton had never left Florida, went on to start there for two years to go along with winning the BCS championship and Heisman last year, would you have been as vocal in declaring your opinions that he would suck? Would you still have questioned his mental makeup?

yup

i was as vocal for newton as i was for tebow, for similar reasons (i thought newton had a better shot though)

If a criminal didn't commit the crime, would he still then be a criminal?

I questioned if Newton would translate just simply because of the offense he played in at Auburn.

I have doubts about any QB coming from a spread system. Some guys can adjust some guys can't.

Edit: So yes if he stayed at Florida in Urbans gimmick spread option deal I would have questioned if he would translate well to the NFL.

i always liked Newton. i was shocked when Saints fans were giggling "hehe i hope the Panthers take Newton".

Like i said then, if he pans out , we are in trouble.

if they take someone else and that player pans out(Dareus, Peterson, AJ Green...whomever) it wont be nearly as bad news for the Saints than if Newton became great.

Still dont understand why they wanted them to draft him.

AS far as this question, I'd probably look at him the same. I actualy give him more props for taking Auburn to new heights with average talent around him all around.

Cam is quickly proving to be the finest example of my hair-brained theory that coaching, systems, etc. matter a whole lot less than talent + dedication.

Can you imagine how awesome Florida would have been after Tebow left if Newton stayed? Holy shite.

I didn't see him being an NFL type of passer in college, but in 2 games he's shown me different. However, unlike some people I can still be objective and say he's a good QB even though I don't like him.

I liked Cam. I didn't think he would be throwing for over 400 yards a game after two starts, but he reminded me of Steve McNair. Last year I said that for one year he was the best college QB I had ever seen.

It's only been 2 weeks but looks like he could end up being better than McNair, who was elite in his prime.

Would newton have turned white in Florida? People questioned him because he's a black qb. Plain and simple

I stand by my prediction that he will never win a playoff game.

Hes talented, but lets see what he does after teams have some tape to watch of him.
