CBS question-not specifically LSU related

Why does ABC have primetime games and CBS doesn't? Do people honestly watch that crap on primetime on CBS each Saturday night? Maybe by adding 2 teams to the SEC, we can get CBS to have a weekly primetime game. Honestly don't know why one network can do it and the other can't. Competition is good.
Que all the "would you rather suck and play night games at Tiger Stadium instead".

SEC has primetime games on ESPN. Not sure how that conflict could be worked out.

CBS has that niche in college football, but that get NFL games, so college isn't as much their priority where ABC that its premeire event of the entire week practically, unless you count MNF. This is what I think may not be true though.

because there is a built in anti competition clause in the contract that specifically states when CBS has a primetime SEC game, no other network shall televise an SEC game in that time slot.
quote:
All LSU football games are scheduled to kick off at night, a tradition for Tiger football. But television contracts often require LSU to move game times.
As a member of the Southeastern Conference, LSU must abide by television contracts negotiated by the SEC. LSU does not request to move games to the daytime and it cannot refuse to move games to the daytime if requested to do so.
In the case of the LSU game vs. Kentucky on Oct. 1, CBS will air a doubleheader (one in the afternoon and one at night) on that date and CBS's contract with the SEC stipulates that no other network can show a game during the time that a CBS game is on the air on that date. Because CBS did not choose to televise the LSU-Kentucky game, it will kick off at 11:20 a.m.

cbs has one prime time night game a year. LSU/Bama this year most likely. They like their saturday night tv line up more thanks to all the old people that watch it.

F that! Just don't put it on TV at all then and let it be a night game the fans will actually enjoy.

I understand that. What I am suggesting is more primetime games, perhaps weekly.

CBS Saturday night line up is worthless. Put college football on DAMN YOU!

I thought they had two? One was the doubleheader and one was just the "late" kickoff.

strictly an extremely oversimplified guess, i am assuming they were out leveraged when negotiating the contract with the SEC. ABC/ESPN can afford to show games simultaneously on seperate channels. CBS took what they could, which was a less than ideal time slot in exchange for right of first choice on which games to broadcast.
